I lived in Tallahassee and spent many days at the archives. It is a good archives and worth the trip. (Compared to the info in the GA archives, FL sucks. Compared to SC, is is full of wonder.) It is located just west and straight downhill from the big ugly capitol building. There is a public $$ parking garage on the south side of the archives. Park there. Don't waste your time trying to find a place on the street. Be sure to take lots of change. You will need a photo ID and pencils. Tallahassee will be hotter than the reported temperatures, about 10 degrees more than the official temperature at the airport. All resturants will be UPhill from the archives and north of the capitol. Don't venture south of the capitol. It may look quiet, but Tallahassee has a crime rate equal to the worst area of Miami. The locals deny that, but I worked for the state and saw all of the official documents. Don't let your guard down. The safest area for a motel is at I-10 and North Monroe street (US 27). Also of special interest... There is a marker just south of the capital that divides the state north and south. Meridian street divides the state east and west. Appalachee Parkway, which dead ends at the capitol, runs along a fault line. There are huge caverans under the capitol. Cousin Dennie
