Cuzzin Dennie, If you really want to go, I suggest a trip to Cancun first. It's not too expensive. See Chichen Itza, Tulum, and maybe Uxmal. The next step up, and very primitive, is a trip to Tikal in Guatemala, or Copan in Honduras. They can be arranged from Cancun cheaper than from the USA. I grew up squirrel and deer hunting, with all my Kilgore kin, in the MS and AL swamps. The jungle is actually very similar, but there are more and bigger things in the jungle that bite back....and you WILL encounter them. The local "terrorist" are no different than moonshiners. All joking and health problems aside, it really was an amazing trip. The ancient Mayan civilization is beyond belief. We'll go back some day. Sounds like you are well prepared. Yes, surprise, Choctaws are Mayans.
