    3. I have the Feb. 8, 1770 deed as "Thomas Kilgore of Orange to Robert Kilgore Snr. of same, for value received in hand, 280 acres, on North Hico Cr., begin at a post oak, N 70 ch. to a red oak, E 40 ch. to a hicory, S 70 ch. to a spanish oak, W 40 ch. to where it first began; signed: Thomas (X) Kilgore, Lydia (X) Kilgore; witness: Jas. Roberson, Thos. Phelps, Andrew Warrick; proved July Term by Warrick." This doesn't make any claim of Robert being Thomas's son. I have this Robert as possibly a nephew to Thomas as son of another Robert. I've got both Thomas and Robert as well as my ancestor Elizabeth (wife of John Yates) connected as children of yet another Robert Kilgore who was the immigrant, but I think this identification is wrong as Robert I supposedly came from England to MD (1675) some saying he later went to PA, whereas as have Robert II b. c.1710, Ireland or VA & Thomas b. c.1712, Ireland & Elizabeth b. 1715, VA. This information is based on trying to sort out all of the confusing and contradictory information given in the archives of this list and on web sites, which seems to be mostly rumors, hearsay and coincidences with few hard facts to back any of it up. It seems that everybody has their own completely different lineage for these early Colonial Kilgore's. It's such a mess that I have been mostly avoiding this branch of my ancestry to work on other more certain branches. Where does Lydia's maiden name come from? I have a total of about 10,000 or more Yates's and Yates descendants in my databases but I haven't found anyone who could be Lydia's parents. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alice S Dyck" <asd7@juno.com> To: <KILGORE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 01, 2001 9:12 PM Subject: Re: [KILGORE] Thomas Kilgore and Lydia Yates > Dennie, > I don't have documentation that Thomas & Lydia were the parents of Robert > Kilgore Sr and that is why I have a question mark beside Thomas' name.
