People can call 1-800-801-8092 or visit the state's Web site at wwww.state.ny.us to make a donation using a credit card. They can also send a check by mail to New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund, P.O. Box 5028, Albany, NY 12205. Seven banks with branches in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut are allowing customers to make donations directly from their accounts to both the New York World Trade Center Relief Fund and the Twin Towers Fund set up by New York City. Those banks are Citibank, Dimes Savings Bank, Green-Point Bank, H-S-B-C Bank, J-P Morgan Chase, M-and-T Bank and North Fork Bank. The United Way set up a fund to aid victims and their families. The fund will be a conduit for money being distributed to establish emergency assistance agencies like the Red Cross and other nonprofit groups. Contributions may be sent to the September 11th Fund, in care of the United Way, 2 Park Ave., New York, N.Y. 10016, 212-251-4035, or through the United Way Web site, http://www.uwnyc.org.
