    1. [KILGORE] In defense of welcomes...
    2. Regulars and longtime members of this list know me to be an easygoing person. Full of mirth, sometimes too silly and often too long-winded, but still easygoing. For the first time I can recall, a post made me really angry. There are likely more than a few members here searching purely for genealogy who get frustrated with the "family posts" which frequent this board more than others. FOR THE RECORD, I LOVE EVERY ONE OF THEM. However, even most of those who don't like them have the courtesy to complain in private or to merely hold their tongue in order to let others enjoy the board their way. The most recent post was unnecessary, unkind and as it was a "last post--unsubscribe", can only be interpreted as intentionally meant to hurt or offend. I hope our front-line welcomers, our "me-toos" posters, our conversational observations, even the ones read by many but directed at only a few, will continue to use our board exactly the way they do. I get between 300-500 emails a week, and I've figured out how to manage them without trying to strike out at someone else. Until now. I'll probably have to come back and apologize for the tenor of this post, but I want to be on record in support of the most caring members of our board, whose names we see over and over greeting the new ones and speaking warm words on behalf of the rest of us.
