    1. [KILGORE] Re. John Kilgo
    2. Freda Daniel
    3. Took another trip back to the library. After reviewing the records of King George, VA, Spotsylvania, VA, Johnston and Wake Cos, NC, I am more confused that ever.   I find John I in St. George in 1726. We know Peter II was there when he m Rachel Hunter.   John I and Peter II were both in Spotyslvania, where Peter died in 1726. John received a land grant there in 1728.   Next we have John II in Johnston, NC, where d in 1761. Peter III was his executor. John must have been relatively young because he had underage children.   Peter III is in Wake by 1762. On the 1790 census he and Isaac are listed. Peter has 4 boys under 16. Possibilities are: Peter IV, William, James, and Bolin. I believe Linsfield and Isaac were too old to belong to him. The females were: Rachel and possibly Frances "Fanny" m Robert Belvin 19 Sept 1803, Charlotte m Dempsy White 28 Nov 1809.   Who is John in Wake, 1779? He probably would be too old to belong to Peter. Anyone have any ideas?   Peter IV was in Jackson Co, GA by 1799 or could this be Peter III?   I am not sure we will ever straighten this out. All comments are welcome.   Freda Kilgo Daniel

I've got a Thos(1748-1822) married to a Lydia Bates who had a son Thos (c1768-c1857) married to a Phoebe Lea. Thos (1748) supposedly died in Robertson's Co, TN. The 1st references I found in my notes to a Thos in TN was a Thos. Quartermaster & Matthew, Chain Carrier, doing survey worl in Davidson Co. A Thos, possibly the same one in 1783 filed on 640 acres on the Red River & 640 acre on Manskers Lick. In 1794 in Robertson Co, a Thos of Sumner Co. sold (!) 800 a. to son Charles, (2) 120 a on Red River to son Johnson & (3) sold 120 a to son Thos, Jr. Bottom line with so many Thos' out there,& not having any luck searching for a paper trail hopefully you can find a DNA match with one of the family lines that this great kilgore -L project has uncovered. Good luck on your search. P.S. Couldn't find a "thos & Martha" in any of my notes. Jack T. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. Hi Vickie, Most of my Kilgores were from Hancock County, but I can't make a connection past my John b abt 1824. I don't know if he was born in Hancock County or somewhere else, but I do know that his son John Andrew (Jr.?) was in 1863 as was John Jr.'s son, John Andrew (III?) in 1901. I was told that my grandfather's name was John Andrew Kilgore III, however, it is not listed on any official documents. He did say at one time that he was the third John Andrew, but this was back when I was 8 or 9 years old. . .two of my cousins also said that he was the 3rd. I looked over William, Ralph, and Benajah's families a long time ago and couldn't make a connection at that time, not enough information. I'll take another look and see if anyone found more information on their children that I could possibly tie into. There are also Kilgores marrying Kilgore cousins which blurs the lines. B. Kilgore. He was born in Newnan County, Ga, in 1835. I did a small amount of research because my Aunt (now deceased) told me that her grandmother (died 1897) mentioned "Uncle Buck" from time to time. That is a rather slender thread. The Kilgore Family Genealogy Forum (http://genforum.genealogy.com/kilgore/ has a recent thread about C. B. Kilgore which you may find useful. Jim
