Carmen, Congratulations!! Last year I got an email from a total stranger asking if I knew a Rennow in California in the 1960s. She had just started her search for her birth mother. I knew her mother and her father and her full sister. She was prepared for a long search. She was not prepared for an instant family. Some of her reunion has been great and some pretty negative. I think over all she is glad she found them. Personally, I am very proud to have her in the family. I hope your positives outweigh any possible negatives. Cousin Dennie
Hi to everyone, Did anyone attend the Killgore reunion in Tallapoosa? Do hope it was a big success. Betty Killgore
To my Kilgore Relatives, Now that I have lived through the embarrassment of disclosing way too much personal information to the entire world, I have a surprising announcement. More personal stuff. I received a call yesterday (Sunday) from my 1/2 sister that I didn't know existed. Long story short....I have found my dad and a host of other relatives. There are no words to describe how it feels to have this 25 year search come to fruition. Thanks to all who were so kind enough to send me very kind notes about my earlier goofs and thank you all for letting me share my happiness with you. Carmen Petersen
Carmen - How wonderful. I got goose bumps reading your story. My daughter, Babs, is doing a personal research project. She needs to know if any of you, who are genetic Kilgores, are psychic. If so, which line are you from and what type of psychic abilities do you have. You can contact her privately at lotus@corgi.net Mucho thanks. Cousin Dennie

I met Mr. Thacker in the Georgia Archives. He is just now starting his search on his Kilgore line. Can any of you dear folks assist him? I know several of you have many Georgia Kilgore connections. This is all he has so far. "Alford Kilgore was born about 1850, maybe in Murry County, Georgia. He first was married to a Betty Johnson and then he married my Grand mother Mary Ellis." Charles Lee Thacker <lee14441@hotmail.com> Cousin Dennie in Hotlanta (where it is in the mid 80s and gas is $1.169 per gallon)

I am the gggrandaughter of Elihu "Huey" Kilgore. He was born abt 1845 and died abt 1913. He married Sarah Jane Hale who died at the about the age of 36. He then married Sabra Ann Sarilda Victoria Virginia Holbrooks. He and Sarah Jane Hale had four children that I know of. 1 Annie Missouri Helen Kilgore 2 Monor (Monroe) Kilgore 3 George Kilgore (died young) 4 Melvina "Vincey" Kilgore I would like to know if anyone has any information on Elihu Kilgore. I have a copy of a typed letter from a Judge Kilgore that stated to my ggrandmother Annie Kilgore that our family were descendants of Rev Robin Kilgore of Fort Kilgore. I have never been able to find out my ggggrandparents name to verify this fact. Any help at all would be appreciated. Move of my Kilgore relatives were born in VA but not sure where Elihu was born. Any information would be appreciated. I can be reached at gennyp2@att.net

Sorry, Ginny I don't have any thing further on the Fort - that line isn't mine. If you search the Kilgore-L archieves you should find what has been posted to this list in the past on the fort. Barbara
Barbara, I have been trying to find out information about the Kilgore Fort for about two years. If anyone out there could contact me I would appreciate it. I was told by my great Aunt that her mother my great grandmother was sent a letter by Judge Kilgore of Wise County, Va that stated that we were descendants of Rev Robin Kilgore. I have never been able to make a connection. Any replies will be greatly appreciated. I have a picture of Rev Robin Kilgore's fort if anyone is interested. It was taken about 3 years ago. This was on my Combs list. Since it dealt with the Kilgore Fort, I thought that those of you who are interested could add it to your collection of data on the fort. I went to the URL Mary posted looking for my TN. Confederate grandfather and also found the following Kilgore's in the TN. 16th. I hope this helps someone.........Jack ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/soldiers.htm 16th Battalion, Tennessee Cavalry (Neal's) 16th Cavalry Battalion was organized in October, 1862, with four companies, later increased to six. The men were from Roane, McMinn, Rhea, Greene, and Hawkins counties. It served in Pegram's, J.J. Morrison's, H.B. Davidson's, Grisby's, and Vaughn's Brigade. From June, 1863 to March, 1864, the 12th and 16th Battalions were consolidated into a field organization known as Rucker's Legion. This command saw action at Chickamauga and in Tennessee, and on January 31, 1864, it totalled 171 effectives. During April, 1864, the 16th had 147 members and moved into the Valley of Virginia where it was engaged at Piedmont. It went on to confront the Federals in Virginia and Tennessee, moved to North Carolina, and probably disbanded in Georgia during the spring of 1865. The field officers were Lieutenant Colonel John R. Neal, and Majors F.J. Paine and Edmund W. Rucker 590 Kilgore, Fielding R. E Private Private 591 Kilgore, J.R.
