    1. [KILGORE] Jungle nuts are here
    2. I'm here...barely. We did something this summer that any self-respecting Kilgore has better sense than to try. We survived a trip to the jungles of Guatemala to see the mayan ruins of Tikal. After an encounter with machine gun toting locals, killer mosquitos, poisonous snakes, spyder and howler monkeys, a bout of malaria-like fever, and these weird 30lb coon-looking kudamundi things, I made it back sick and crippled. Atlanta never looked so good. All ok now. Funny how people will put themselves through so much just to see some 2000 year old stone buildings, rock grafitti, and pyramids that nobody wants to live in anymore. They didn't even have TV or AC. No wonder the mayans abandoned the place and let the jungle have it. I think we'll stick to the beach next time. Mark

    3. Thanks Dennie, Elizabeth "Betsy" Copeland's mother was ANN CAMERON. Finally, I get to give YOU SOMETHING! One of Ann's relatives also married a Copeland. There is a ged file on ancestor.com called ???Swallows on world connect, and she is listed there. I would have to leave here and look up any other particulars, so let me know if you want anything else on that. I have most of the othe Copeland info you wrote about....you gave it to me about a year ago! Thank you, thank you. There were so many Polly Scott's during that time, whew. 3. Oh I almost forgot... I have spent 5 weeks in Miami and then Anna Maria Island, Florida. Anna Maria is the first barrier island south of Tampa. I lived the best years of my life there. My heart will always be there. It makes me so sad to see how much damage has been done to its environment. It is like my best friend has been raped. Anyway, I am now home in NE Atlanta. My daughter has me working in her artistic gardenscape business. We have today off, so we are on our way to the GA State Archives. (It is sinking so they are moving in the next year or so.) Dennie

    1. [KILGORE] Re: Archives
    2. Hi, I have not visited the State Archives, but have been to the Federal many times. The great disappointment for me at the Federal Archives in Laguna Niguel is the lack of books. Everything is on film, with the exception of the early census records for "look up purposes". The routine there is to sign up for a film reading machine as soon as you enter (usually they are available), then an allotment time of 2 hours is assigned. If no one is waiting, you are allowed to stay on the machine, but if it is a busy day, you are reminded that your two hours is up and then you immediately sign up for another 2 hours. The wait is not very long. I think the most I've waited was about 20 minutes. Staff is very nice and helpful. They will not do your research for you, but will give you all the help you need regarding "how to" look up and use the machines. The cost to print at all most all of these facilities is 25 cents to 50 cents a page, depending on the machine. My advice is to take plenty of quarters. They usually have some change, however, I've been there when they didn't. Have a great time. Connie Keep what is worth keeping and with a breath of kindness, blow the rest away. Author Unknown

    3. I lived in Tallahassee and spent many days at the archives. It is a good archives and worth the trip. (Compared to the info in the GA archives, FL sucks. Compared to SC, is is full of wonder.) It is located just west and straight downhill from the big ugly capitol building. There is a public $$ parking garage on the south side of the archives. Park there. Don't waste your time trying to find a place on the street. Be sure to take lots of change. You will need a photo ID and pencils. Tallahassee will be hotter than the reported temperatures, about 10 degrees more than the official temperature at the airport. All resturants will be UPhill from the archives and north of the capitol. Don't venture south of the capitol. It may look quiet, but Tallahassee has a crime rate equal to the worst area of Miami. The locals deny that, but I worked for the state and saw all of the official documents. Don't let your guard down. The safest area for a motel is at I-10 and North Monroe street (US 27). Also of special interest... There is a marker just south of the capital that divides the state north and south. Meridian street divides the state east and west. Appalachee Parkway, which dead ends at the capitol, runs along a fault line. There are huge caverans under the capitol. Cousin Dennie

    3. I'm just getting ready to make a trip to Tallahassee, FL to visit the State Archives to see if I can find the names of my great grandfathers parents. He served in the Civil War and was married twice in Duval County (Jacksonville) and had 11 children there. Have any of you had any experience at State Archives? This will be my first trip. Any Tips? _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp

    3. I'm still here to in CA reading the 26 emails sent to me about RH NEGATIVE BLOOD and Kilgores! While I did not ASK about psychic ablilities, directly, I see a great many people have an interest in both. Most of the comments, questions are about RH Negative Blood and that individuals experiences as it relates to the rh negative mother, and her children. I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM A SINGLE MAN YET. If you are rh negative blood (any type O,A,Ab B, etc.), I would like to hear from you too. I am working on a website to further investigate and collect data of the experiences of rh negatives. To those who are writing to me, I will keep their email addresses and let them know when the site is up and running. The psychic comments are wonderful! Very , very interesting material! Next: A KILGORE QUESTION Since the Kilgore list is so quiet, HAS been actually since I posted that query, anyway, I thought this would be a good opportunity to thank those of you who are STILL sending your emails. Door is still open. I have a Kilgore question! My great grandmother was Mary Ann Kilgore of Walden Ridge/Signal Mtn., TN.BORN ABOUT 1875 (my memory is bad tonight, so give or take a year, 1875). I have HER immediate ancestry pretty well documented, with one exception. HER mother was AMANDA SCOTT, and Amanda was married to CRAVEN KILGORE. AMANDA'S mother.... was she POLLY SCOTT, OR ELIZABETH "BETSY" Copeland... who was married twice. #1 (?SCOTT) , #2 KILGORE. Does anyone know anything about this "unknown " Scott"? Or, anything else on this confusing point? I know the line is very well documented, I just cannot seem to get comfortable on which one was Amanda's mother , and who was her father anyway? Well, I just thought I would throw that out there to get something going here. Maybe everyone is out boating, enjoying the sunshine of summer! 3. Hi all, For the past 2 weeks hubby and I have been very busy doing magic tricks. We had managed to change a garage into a game room, complete with pool table, card table and a bar. It was a challenge to get just the right color paint and carpet to go with the table and chairs, but we did it! To say nothing about making the drapes for the room. Thursday night hubby's sister called. She and her family (hubby and 2 kiddo's) were coming to visit us Friday. When they showed up they had a friend with them. That was no big deal,, just throw another bean in the pot. About an hour after they got here his 2 brothers show up with yet another friend. (We had already made dinner plans with friends of our, they were here at 7 PM) So now I had 10 adults and 2 children to feed! LOL Those beans become bean soup in a hurry! They were all here until Sunday afternoon. We had a wonderful time and the guys did all the clean up for us gals (only 2 of us and 8 of them! LOL) Nothing like having an unplanned family reunion! I did have a few minutes last week to chat with a new cousin on my Mothers side of the family (not Kilgore's) From her I received some wonderful information on my Grandmother! (She was the reason, 16 years ago, I got into genealogy. ) It seems I had been looking for the wrong name all these years,, she had remarried ! I now have her death date, where she died and how she died! At last! One of my mystery's have been solved! Now who did she marry and when? LOL Always more questions than answers! Have a good one,, Miss all of your posts! Guess you all are staying in the shade of a big tree, trying to stay cool. I know I am! (well,,,,,, maybe in the pool would be a better idea! hehehehee) Carol ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steven C.
