I will learn it, lots of blood sweat and tears will get me through 6 more terms of college. Take care all and have a wonderful weekend.

I will tell you what has increased the "senior moments." I have two German mail lists, one for the discussion of German Cultures and the other for German Food. While I was on vacation someone by the name of "derkumpel" [meaning buddy] assumed my identity and posted a roll call to the German life mail list and asked that first names and email addresses be posted to the mail list as I was having administrative difficulties and needed their help....this was to harvest email addresses. Then the members started receiving porn spam... I got in on the tail end of that roll call and advised everyone that I did not call a roll call on a conversation or chat mail list. Damage was done...then derkumpel moves to my food list and posts a roll call in my name this time using my full name and then IT posted a web page addy and on this web page IT had all my personal data.. my address, Jack's birth date and location, our wedding date and location, my birth date and location and my marital status was "Married but looking" and then he had a picture of me with the heading... "Hi, my name is Gail and it was a picture of a pig.... The picture didn't bother me it was all the info this person had gathered on us to build a web page...yesterday was spent on the phone with my attorney, to the Sheriff, to the Attorney General, to the TV station, to the FCC and the final results is a claim has been filed with the FBI, after talking to an agent he advised me that I had a case and needed to deal with it immediately and since he was in Tucson, I needed to contact DC so with that done today the web page information is gone but still listed under "derkumpel". I was advised that this person was trying to assume my identity and with the web page as far as I am concerned that is when he stepped in "sh__" and I know that you Scot's have a temper but you ain't ever seen this German in action....so that is what has been happening since I got home from vacation on Tuesday night and now I am playing the "clean the email off the computer... have 700 more to go. Another thing, some of the people who are on another mail list after I posted what happened to that group started looking into Ancestry.com of which they were members and had purchased material from and low and behold their full data and credit card information is posted on the web site as well as the expiration dates so if someone breaks into that system the information on them and their credit card is available. Emails have been sailing to Ancestry.com about that and credit cards are being cancelled. I hope this just makes us all be a little more careful in how we interface with the Internet. If you do not have a firewall on your computer you might look into it as I think "derkumpel" came to visit the inside of my computer as I did not have a firewall...I do now!! He had been planning that for some time and he could have visited my computer when he realized I was now home.????? Isn't life on a computer fun?????? ;-) You have a good one!! Gail
I am having a senior moment here... Excuse me for being stupid today, it has been one rough week since I got back from vacation, I don't have a name as of yet for you to welcome this newest member but she says: This is what I have found in my research. In live in the Anniston, Al. area. & I found on the Four Mile United Methodist Church Cemetery register, there is a J.W. Kilgore (born: 2/23/1852 & died 12/18/1095) that was married to a P.F. Wallis (born: 5/20/1854 & died 7/15/1901). This name of J.W. Kilgore was listed in the 1900 Calhoun County, Alabama census as William J. Kilgore born 1852 and his wife was listed as Priner (born 1854) . Their children were listed as follows: Tom W., Charley, Hattie, Richard, John W., Mattie, Lonnie, & Eddie. Let me know if this helps you any?
Carolyn, send us what info you have and some dates and we can see what you have and maybe someone can connect. Wish you luck in your search and welcome to the Kilgore mail list. Carolyn says, Hi Gail, This is Carolyn & I am a Kilgore Descendant but I have very little information to go on at this time. For some reason the Family knew very little about the past. Even on my Grandfathers death certificate it said Mother unknown? I know that my Grandfather was separated most of the marriage, could even have another family?? I not saying that for sure, but there is so little known & it's quite a mystery. Maybe I'm the one to solve it. I will be getting Military records someday & hopefully I can start putting the pieces together. I'm not the type to give up so I will be in this genealogy search for life. Ha! My address: Carolyn Rabe Olympia, Washington

Sandy Nosker has joined us from her won computer as she used her sister's before, so congrat on your very own computer and welcome to the mail list. Sandy says, " I just was a reader mostly, but now that I have my computer at home, I can contribute more. I tried to convey that I just needed to change the email address, but obviously, I didn't succeed in doing that. my Kilgore line is through James William Kilgore married to Elizabeth Jack. Their son, Patrick, went first to Westmoreland County and then in 1800 moved to Mercer County and died there in 1808. Some of his sons went west - others stayed in the Mercer/Venango County area his son, John J. Kilgore married Dorcas McClelland and stayed in Irwin Twp, Venango County the rest of his life.John J. and Dorcas would be a set of my great-great-great grandparents. I would love to be a part of this again. I enjoyed the support and caring that I would see on the board before. Thanks for getting in touch. Sandy Nosker."
Hi to all the gang, I would like to invite all of you to attend our annual PENLEY reunion to be held at the old Manville School on Copper Ridge in Scott County, VA. on August 18. It will begin at 10:30 AM EDT and will conclude about 3 PM. Even though you may not be descended from Epaphroditus Penley and Temperance Lane Penley, we still invite you to come as a cousin of ours, hehe! It is a bring your own covered dish affair, be it meats, veggies or desserts. Also bring some photos of your family or family memorabilia for display during the reunion. Yours truly will present an interesting show, who knows, I may even dance a jig. LOL!! If any of you need directions on how to get there, contact me and we will see what we can do about getting you directions on how to get there. Until later, good hunting, Jerry Penley in Kingsport, TN www.Penjaccphoto.com
Any of you folks who live near Jackson, Mississippi, should be warned that the Grand Poobah of Purple Boxer Shorts will be visiting your area from tomorrow to August 4. You may want to lay low so no one thinks you're related to me. We're finally taking the vacation we started when I injured my spine and had surgery. Cross your fingers we don't have a repeat of that vacation fiasco. Gail, if I need to unsubscribe for one week, can you tell me how to do so? In my absence I designate Ora Jane as my pinch-hitter on the intellectual posts scene, and Barbekay as the monitor to be certain a palace coup isn't staged by the Orange boxer short revolutionaries on the board. Wahoo! er, I mean, Respectfully, Randy
Okay, so most of the time I'm a quirky poster who works hard not to offend, BUT..... To whoever complained about the chat on this genealogy list, I'm afraid you're in for a frustrating time. This board is about more than just our historical genealogies, though I doubt there's one person who disagrees those are important. We have bonded in ways generations that follow us will view as a gift because the logs of this board will tell them more about their ancestors than all the records they gather. Darn, (sorry, but that's the strongest word I use) would I love to find a cache of letters written from one Kilgore to another in some trunk someplace; now that's real genealogy! And so is the conversation that occurs on this board. Instead of diaries and letters, we leave behind emails. I know there are lots of "Just the facts, ma'am" genealogists; but I'm sure you've waded through a lot more stuff in the bowels of some library to find a nugget than you will on this board. Anyway, that's my two-cents worth. To save on unnecessary posts, I recommend those who AGREE with me NOT post to the whole list out of courtesy to others. However, if you disagree, I wouldn't want to suggest you don't have a right to say so in the same way I just did. Shy and timid old me, Respectfully, Randy
Hi!! ;-) I just wanted to tell you that you have a new cousin to meet. She is Davine Roberts who lives in Jacksonville, FL. Davine say's her husband's mother's maiden name is Catherine Mary Kilgore, and she was born and lived in Walker Co., AL. She now lives in Jacksonville, FL, close to where we live. Some of her Kilgores lived in Fayette Co., AL, which is next to Walker Co., AL. WILLIAM KILGORE, born abt 1862, is the earliest Kilgore we have been able to prove. It has been passed down that there is native Indian blood, and that ancestors of this family were in Oklahoma before they came to Walker and Fayette Counties in AL. Also, it has been told that they came to Walker Co., AL earlier, and then they went to OK on the Trail of Tears, and returned to Walker Co. around 1900. There was a newspaper article written on Mae Kilgore Holley (Catherine's aunt), before she died, probably in the early 1980's, where she told of her oxen drawn wagon ride from Oklahoma to Walker County with her parents when she was a very small child. Mae was born 2 Sept 1895 somewhere is OK. Catherine Mary Kilgore's line is given below, starting with her. 1 CATHERINE MARY KILGORE. Born on 12 Oct 1922 in Cordova, Walker County, AL. On 7 Dec 1940 when CATHERINE MARY was 18, she married William Earl ROBERTS, in Pascagoula, MS. They were divorced on 5 Dec 1951. 2 JAMES ROBERT (BOB) KILGORE SR. Born on 7 Jul 1884. JAMES ROBERT (BOB) died on 28 Feb 1962, he was 77. Buried in Griggs Place Cemetery, Rock City/Winfield, Marion Co., AL. On 10 Aug 1905 when JAMES ROBERT (BOB) was 21, he married KATE McNUTT, in Cordova, Walker County, AL. 3 KATE McNUTT. Born on 2 Feb 1886 in probably Walker Co., AL. KATE died in Prichard, AL, at her daughter's (Christine) house on 28 Jul 1947, she was 61. Buried in Griggs Place Cemetery, Rock City/Winfield, Marion Co., AL. 4 WILLIAM KILGORE. Born abt 1862. Buried in Cardova, Walker Co., AL. abt 1882 when WILLIAM was 20, he married REBECCA WYERS. 5 REBECCA WYERS. Born abt 1862. Buried in Cardova, Walker Co., AL. 6 JOHN McNUTT. Born abt 1855. JOHN died abt 1895, he was 40. Buried in Earnest Chapel Church Cemetery, near Oakman, Walker Co., AL. On 31 Jul 1877 when JOHN was 22, he married SARAH FRANCES TIDWELL, in at the house of Newton Willis in Fayette Co., AL. 7 SARAH FRANCES TIDWELL. Born abt 1857 in Marion Co., AL. Buried in Earnest Chapel Church Cemetery, near Oakman, Walker Co., AL. Maybe somebody out there is researching this line or can help provide some clues about how to research records in OK. Please welcome her to the list......and I will welcome you now and hope you enjoy this bunch of great cousins... Gail
