    3. Thanks Carolyn, They can sure use all the prayers they can get right now. It will be a very long recovery time I fear. I hope you have some luck with your "VERY Mysterious Kilgore Grandfather" I know the feeling! I have one too. His name is Ralph (Elzie, is a nick I think). If only he had married Nancy Gray instead of Nancy Larrimore! LOL (I keep hoping I will find information she was a second wife to him! Fat chance of that I know! ) He was born in South Carolina about 1790, so I just know there has to be a connection somewhere! But alas, he remains illusive and an orphan for now. No one wants to claim him. LOL I must be from the line that hatched one dark misty night and came up from the swamps! LOL I had to wait for almost a year before I finally got back military records for my James Kilgore. They seem to take their sweet time at the Archives these days. I am sure they are over run with requests. Hang in there. One day, when you least expect it, they will show up in the mail box! Randy,,, I think it might be time dor an initiation beings how we have so many new members. Most would not know a thing about our purple boxer shorts or foil hats. Carol

    3. Hi, I had Kilgores in Belmont County in 1820 and 1830. They left there and went other places like on to Iowa, but you might start checking family names for the crew who left western PA. There were several of Patrick Kilgores children and grandchildren who moved on. I can check the records I have and see if there was a James born to any of the ones who left Mercer/Venango counties. 3. Carol, I have been away from the board for about a year and I was wondering what happened to all the really delightful people who came up with the zaniest things. I missed that. I also used to like the caring level that was displayed on the board. One felt like they knew the others as real paople. I used to be quiet and just read, but think I will start becoming more active. 3. I have been on this list for about a year now. I looked forward every day to see what humor, new antic's and fun I could look forward to in the morning's mail and all day long. You guys always brought a smile to my face each and every day! I miss Randy's humor and his wonderful new idea's about things for us to do!. I am sorry there is someone who thinks we are too chatty and that we should stay a "facts only Mamma" list. What next? Can we still ask for prayer requests now or is that going to far too? I have not seen any since the post about us being too chatty? Are we all in that good of health? or just don't want to offend someone by asking? Well I will ask, sorry if it offends. I have a prayer request. My Cousin's (not a Kilgore) daughter and son in law were in a bad accident last weekend. She came out with scratches and bruises. He crushed both his legs. They did surgery earlier this week and he seems to be doing OK right now. Please keep them in your prayers for a full and speedy recovery. Sorry if I sound hard, but I have been on some lists where you could not say a word that was not about facts or requests for information. I thought we had a different list here. Am I wrong? I sure miss the fun times! Carol

    3. I have the Feb. 8, 1770 deed as "Thomas Kilgore of Orange to Robert Kilgore Snr. of same, for value received in hand, 280 acres, on North Hico Cr., begin at a post oak, N 70 ch. to a red oak, E 40 ch. to a hicory, S 70 ch. to a spanish oak, W 40 ch. to where it first began; signed: Thomas (X) Kilgore, Lydia (X) Kilgore; witness: Jas. Roberson, Thos. Phelps, Andrew Warrick; proved July Term by Warrick." This doesn't make any claim of Robert being Thomas's son. I have this Robert as possibly a nephew to Thomas as son of another Robert. I've got both Thomas and Robert as well as my ancestor Elizabeth (wife of John Yates) connected as children of yet another Robert Kilgore who was the immigrant, but I think this identification is wrong as Robert I supposedly came from England to MD (1675) some saying he later went to PA, whereas as have Robert II b. c.1710, Ireland or VA & Thomas b. c.1712, Ireland & Elizabeth b. 1715, VA. This information is based on trying to sort out all of the confusing and contradictory information given in the archives of this list and on web sites, which seems to be mostly rumors, hearsay and coincidences with few hard facts to back any of it up. It seems that everybody has their own completely different lineage for these early Colonial Kilgore's. It's such a mess that I have been mostly avoiding this branch of my ancestry to work on other more certain branches. Where does Lydia's maiden name come from? I have a total of about 10,000 or more Yates's and Yates descendants in my databases but I haven't found anyone who could be Lydia's parents. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alice S Dyck" <asd7@juno.com> To: <KILGORE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 01, 2001 9:12 PM Subject: Re: [KILGORE] Thomas Kilgore and Lydia Yates > Dennie, > I don't have documentation that Thomas & Lydia were the parents of Robert > Kilgore Sr and that is why I have a question mark beside Thomas' name. The men encountered a guy selling old GI dog tags from US servicemen who were killed during the Viet Nam War. They were disgusted by the thought of this man profiting from the sale of these tags. Upon returning to the U.S., they decided to go back to Viet Nam and purchase ALL the dog tags. They did so, paying 19 cents per tag! They brought home several hundred tags. The plan is to return the tags to surviving family members, when they can find them. The process has already begun with one set being turned over to a grieving Mom on July 4th, (coincidentally, it was on her birthday)! These two men have set up a website, "http://www.founddogtags.com" listing the names of all those whose tags they purchased. If you lost friends, family, or know of someone who lost a loved one in Viet Nam, I suggest you check out this website. If you recognize a name, there's an e-mail address to contact these two men and to help in their efforts to return the dogtag to it's rightful survivor. I'm sure a family member would be eternally grateful to have such an important item returned. Please help by checking this website. And please send the website address to everyone you know. The more people who see the lists, the greater the chance of returning ALL the tags to those who lost loved ones in Viet Nam! The discovery of these tags after so many years from servicemen dead, missing and in some cases still alive is mindboggling when you consider the emotions that will be reignited.I leave you to your own thoughts on this one «€»¥«€»§«€»¥«€»§«€»¥«€»§«€»¥«€»§«€»¥«€»§«€»¥«€»§«€»¥«€»§«€» ============================== Add as many as 10 Good Years To Your Life If you know how to reduce these risks. http://www.thirdage.com/health/wecare/hearthealth/index.html --------------13E6CFFE163C90FAF4A11F01--

    3. Dear Lois, I am stunned to read your message, but grateful you took the time to tell us of Jack passing away. My prayers are with you and your family for the loss of your husband. I only "met" Jack on another Melungeon Lists, about 4 months ago. He was so generous with his information and helpful. I instantly liked him from afar. When I signed onto the Kilgore lists, there he was again! By reading the lists comments to and from him, I could see he was liked so very much. I am thankful he wrote to me a little about where he grew up. His family were coal miners, like my grandfather, and even some of my mother's brothers, in the 30's in TN. I instantly felt kinship. As a matter of fact, my grandfather of 4 generations ago, was a brother of Jacks' grandfather of the same generation. As I write, I am feeling like I lost a good friend. We will miss him.I will miss him. God bless you,Lois, and Jack, and god be with you through this difficult time. One of Jack's new friends, RoseMary Sofes p.s. Thank you again for writing to us.
