Our family has been going through a scary time with our son who was diagnosed with cancer last October. God's Grace has seen not only him through, but has blessed us as well. He is again being tested to determine if the cancer has returned so we understand some of what you have been going through. I will continue to pray for a complete recovery for your hasband and for God's peace and comfort for you. > God bless you and your family, > Carolove > > Memeellajane@aol.com wrote: > > >To all of you that included us in your prayers, I thank you from the bottom > >of my heart...... 1. [KILGORE] THANKS for the prayers!
    2. To all of you that included us in your prayers, I thank you from the bottom of my heart...... Ours prayers were answered and my husband, Paul is on the mend. His stats made a dramatic turn around and no surgery was needed. Thank you so very much again. I love you all. What a great family we have here.... Let me tell you a little story now... When my husband was brought by ambulance to the hospital I was there to meet it. He said to me that he had on his seat belt and that he hit the bad weather and lost control after his wheel fell off the newly surfaced highway on a low shoulder. He tried to get back on and lost control. He spun out several spins and slid across the road. He said I didn't hit anything I don't think. He said he ended up in a green pasture with no trees and he knew that he would be OK. WELL....... He had flipped over 3 times after hydroplaneing on the pouring down rain, wet , slick hwy, He had gone over a ravine and had landed in trees. (He had no idea of this as he thought it was a pasture.) I never knew that my husband carried a bible in his truck with him. He did and when my son got there his bible was laying where his feet should have been. I fully believe that God carried him over that revine and let him believe he was in a safe pasture. Each can draw their own conclusion but I know he was there with him. He has some other mission in life that has not been fulfilled. Thank you so very much for all your prayers and God Bless. Jane Holtmann Louisiana Killgores

    3. Welcome Carolove!!! I like your name & the story behind it. I'm Carolyn from "Out West" & a new member also.I think it's great you have connected already. I still don't know anymore about my Kilgore connection. (William Joseph Kilgore-b.1872 LaFayette, Ind.-d.1940.L.A. Ca.) I am now starting to wonder if maybe my mysterious Grandfather was adopted. The National Archives wrote me and said they don't have the file, so I have to try the Veterans Administration with all the red tape. But the good thing is I have really enjoyed this Kilgore Board. They have been very helpful & encouraging. And "WOW" what a interesting group of people!!! I thank all of you for your help & humor. I sure need it looking for my "Mysterious" Grandfather! 3. Davine, I am sorry! I am not sure where Elizabeth Allen was born, but she is buried in Scott Co. Virginia with a couple of her children. A lot of the Dougherty families came from there also as well as the Kilgore names. 2. Hi Carolove! I'm Randy, the sedate, sensible member of this motley crew. The rest of these folks are just plain silly; me, I like to stick to the serious stuff. I wanted to welcome you myself before you got the impression that all the members of this board were, --UMM--, unusual. Don't worry. Let me be your guide through the rocky shoals of Kilgore Land, and you'll have a serene ride all the way. "Respectfully" Randy

    2. Hi Alice, Not personal at all. The story goes(and do remember, honeychile, that I am Southern bred, born and raised) that my mother was pregnant(with me) and wanted her sister's child to stay with her for awhile. The only way my soon to be aunt would permit my mother to have her way was if my mother allowed her sister to name the baby(me). Hence.. CAROLOVE. All one word!. My aunt swears she has no idea how she came up with that, but it sure sounds like something out of a book... science fiction or perhaps something by Mary Shelly. Most of my life I hated it, but now that I am old, I sorta like having to use only my first name. Well, several marriages taught me the wisdom of that as surnames come and they go. Although I have had my present husband for 22 years and he's wearing just fine. Like good silver he has a lovely patina that wears well with age. that and... he puts up with me. Classification: Queries Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/jZm.2ACEB/842.1.1 Message Board Post: Cathrine: I understand that Clayton Kilgore and Rebecca Salyers had a son named Harem. However, I have not been able to find any records of him of any kind in Marion, Grundy, or Sequatchie County records. I simply don't think he lived here. I can prove by documentation that harem/Harim was not married to Nancy Layne. Charles Kilgore his older brother married Nancy Layne. This is according to John Scruggs in his Civil War Pension Records. He was Charles and Nancy's son. Carter and Lucinda(Cindy)Kilgore Scruggs son. Also I can document Nancy in Marion County most of her adult life thru Census records and Land grants. Late in life she married a man names James Jackson and as far as I can tell died on Whitwell Mountain tho I haven't been able to find her gravesite. I think Charles is buried in Victoria, Tn. in the same cemetary as Stephen but his grave is unmarked. Roger
