Hi Donna, This is the Grandfather that is a big mystery to the family. He was in the civil war U.S. Art. & U.S. Cav. Also the Spanish American war. He was always off fighting in a war. He was separated from my Grandmother & the kids did not know very much about him. I am really hoping I can get some mysteries solved by the pension file. I do have a picture of him.He died before I was born. He was born on the East coast maybe Indiana. ( 1872.) Indiana has no records of the birth. Family was in Ohio & Virginia.(Maybe Pa.) Actually he was all over the U.S. but he is buried in L.A. National Cemetery. He could have had another family we didn't learn about since he didn't stay with my Grandmother. They did have 5 children together. They were never divorced. Still putting pieces of the puzzle together. It would really be nice to find a connection. I still need to gather more facts. Cindy; I am so sorry that you have the flu. Drink lots of fluids and get well soon. You know the old adage! CHICKEN SOUP. I wish you lived close by, as I made some chicken soup yesterday, and it would help out with your flu. Get well soon. Love, Donna
Dear Carl, Marie, Dd, Roy Jenna, Cindy and all of the Kilgore CLan; How wonderful hearing from the cousins. I hope each and every one posts some time this weekend. Latrelle, we would love to hear from you. But, I have almost given up on hearing from Alan, so would you please give him a good talking to? If that doesn't work, just post yourself and let us know how you are etc. Ben and Nell, I have been thinking so very much of you and your family in NY. I presume you are back in Ohio now. I will write you later. Jenna, good hearing from you and I will write you also. I hope every one is fine in your family. Barbara, please pop in and let us know how you are doing back east. I envy you now, with the beauty of the changing colors of the leaves and just being fall. My favorite season. PJ, if we do not hear from you very soon, I will have to pop up on your doorstep, and stay for a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. One more never matters, does it? And yes, I would like to ask a favor, I lost the URL for my Tenn. web pages, and I do miss them, Could you please email them to me? I hope all of you cuzzins out there post also, so that we know where everyone is, and, how they are doing. We do miss each and every one of you. Last but never LEAST, RANDY, it just has been too long since we have heard from you. We are waiting for our new apparel orders. The tin foil has crinkled so much that our fingers and hair look like we are from outer space! You don't want us to run around looking like this and telling every one we are your RELATIVES. If that doesn't work, I know where you live, and Saratoga Springs, NY is not very far from Mass. I go there every now and then and visit my relatives, so BEWARE. Love to all: Donna
Roy: Congratulations on your move to Twin Falls. I understand it is great there, and you even have your grandchildren close. How lucky can you be? I have a very good friend that lives there part-time, and the rest of the time in Santa Clara, Ca. He has written several books on his genealogy, and they are very interesting. If you run into a Holloway, ask if they know Jim! I am still in Los Gatos, Ca. but my daughter is being very persistent and keeps saying by the end of this year I will have to live in the Palm Springs area. They moved there from Portola Valley, Ca. last year. I am not sold on the desert, but being with family means a lot. If I move there, it will be a small place and then I can travel. Thanks for posting Roy, and again I am so happy for your wife and yourself. Donna
I am here, have the flu so haven't been doing anything but reading my mail each day. Randy we miss your smiling face. Did you by chance leave the purple boxers in Jackson and are unable to join us because of it? Love you guys, Cindy (Kilgore) McGehee
We had decided to move to Twin Falls to be near our Grand kids. (2,4,9) in July. We went back to Vegas and put our house on the market. The house sold in two days. But did not close until the End of Aug. We closed on our new house in Idaho Sept 5, at a very low Int rate. You all know what happen on the 11th. Someone was looking out for us, and I think it was all of those Killgore's with the constant open channel between heaven and earth. Randy my sisters husband spent 7 years in Harverd. Came away with a Ph.D. in religion. He also wrote several books about the common points of each Religion. Is this what you are doing in Boston? By the way I tried to read one of his books, and only got through the first page. I did not understand half ofthe words. Roy in Twin Falls

Husbands hours ahve been cut back but we will survive, even if he gets laid off we will be ok. Kids are all ok. Oldest daughter just got back from DC and NY were she had a fantastic time. It was a little unnerving coming back when they had to make an emergency stop in Illionis all because someone left a metal makeup bag on the plane. Other then that she had a great time. Now she is planning on a trip to Disneyland with her choir. Hope everything is ok with all you other Kilgore cousins. Yes it is time for Randy to come out. Maybe he is in hibernation for the winter. :) Take care all have a great day. DdHober Civil War Resources
Hi everybody!! I AM on a funny farm. I just saved 6 kittens from being put to sleep & they are jumping all over the place. My little dachshund is chasing them all over & it's REALLY a zoo here. Boy, I wish you all lived close & I could share all this fun with you all!!!!! They are all jumping & playing in the barn, on the hay 24hours a day. Whew! It's nice to hear from the cousins again. I think we are all in a quiet mood after Sept. 11. Trying to get back to normal has been difficult. But I think this group can get back to normal. (because, it never was normal) Normal is boring anyway. I got a letter from the V.A. Adm.. They are copying my grandfathers (William Kilgore) pension file & sending it soon!!! YES!!!!! I hope, I hope, I hope it has some family info. in it!! Anyone close by, want a really, really cute kitten???? I will try to make the link, if possible. At least I have something to try. I was at a dead end. Thank you so much for taking the time to send this to me. Davine
Yes Davine, We have very extensive knowledge of the whereabouts of most of the decendants of James Kilgore (c. Darlington Co., SC, 1785). One son's (James Jr. ) decendants remained in the Hartsville and Darlington SC area, at least through the CW. The other 3 sons (Samuel, Peter, John) and their decendants migrated to MS, in the early 1800s, and then many went on to TX. We have no documented history of James Sr., or his brother Henry, prior to the RW. As I mentioned, they both fought in the 3rd SC Regiment. Henry apparently died in 1785, James died in 1829 in Hartsville. They had another documented brother/father (unknown) Peter, who also served in SC during the war. Mark
this cousin is still here wonder where everyone is ????? cousin Marie
Did they finally take all my zany KILGORE cuzzies to the funny farm??
Dorothy, and hi to all my cousins. Thank you for posting this Dorothy, it is in my line. It is about time for you to come our Randy. It has been quite awhile since we have seen any posts from you. You must have some new clothes for us, since it is getting to be Halloween! Our hair must be different since we have been wearing the tin foil for ages. I know Barbara is waiting to hear for any new instructions, and there are a lot of us cousins are just waiting for our orders. Even DD has been too quiet. Let us wake up and start some posting. It is time for the Kilgore Clan to start their fall stories. Love to all the Kilgore Cousins; Donna Jerry, it is was great hearing from you, and I know we would love to have some more posts from you.

Mark, it could be the same line. I wish I could make a connection. Do you know where descendants of this James Kilgore went? Davine
Our family line reached a dead end with a James Kilgore, who settled in Darlington Co., SC (Hartsville)about 1785. He was in the RW in the 3rd SC Regiment, and had a brother named Henry. Does this appear to have any link to the James Kilgore(s) you are discussing? Mark Kilgore Cumming, GA

I am going to do some more research to see if I can make a connection to this GA group. James and William is in all my Kilgore lines. I suppose you do not know what happened to this James, Jr., or other branches of this family? Do you have census records for 1860?
