I am going on the list with my reply as maybe I can clear some cobwebs from some other brains as mine is getting a wee bit foggy. I have so far located five different Kilgore families in NE. One is a line from Maine, then there is ours from York Co. PA, and one line is of the Cumberland Co., PA Kilgore's and then Kilgore, NE was named after another line and then there is a line from Canada that is and was around Lincoln. In the area of Lodgepole, NE our Kilgore's migrated there later and still live there. Our Kilgore's came to NE in the 1880's but the line from Maine was near Kearny, NE and that line homesteaded that area and are noted for starting the post office and other things in that area. The Cumberland bunch came in the 1880's too so that would eliminate two lines, the Canadian line is also later. I will have to look up some old notes and see what I can come up with but I would guess that your Nancy is from the bunch around Kearny, NE. Gail Meÿer Kilgore Casa Grande, AZ

This is from the Kingsport Times News newspaper: Kilgore wins attorney general post by huge margin <A HREF="mailto:kcastle@timesnews.net">By KEVIN CASTLE</A> GATE CITY - From the mountains of the Manville community to the steps of the Capitol in Richmond, Jerry Kilgore's run has come full circle. The Republican candidate for Virginia attorney general, who originally hails from Gate City, was victorious in his run Tuesday, defeating Delegate Donald McEachin, D-Richmond. With 89 percent of the precincts reporting late Tuesday, Kilgore had 971,776 votes, or 61 percent, and McEachin had 630,451 votes, or 39 percent. Earlier in the day, Kilgore talked to the Times-News via cell phone from Richmond, just moments after he stepped out of the voting booth at Short Pump Middle School in Glen Allen. "Guess who I voted for?'' said Kilgore. After working the polls in his hometown early Tuesday and seeing a number of family friends coming in and out of the polls, Kilgore said the whole experience of the 2001 campaign run has been "one of lasting significance.'' "It has been an awesome experience making new friends across the commonwealth. They will be friends that I will have for the rest of my life,'' said Kilgore. "Working the precinct in Gate City this morning was just a real treat. People were coming up to me and telling me that they were coming out to vote just because I was on the ticket. It made me feel good to know that I'm still considered from Scott County. "But I kept stressing that throughout the campaign that I would not forget Scott County or the region I called home for a long time, and I plan to hold true to that.'' "I am just so pleased with the turnout and the percentages we received throughout the state, especially in Southwest Virginia,'' said Kilgore. Willie Mae Kilgore, mother to Jerry and voter registrar of Scott County, had the unique position of tallying votes that concerned both her sons Tuesday night. Jerry's twin brother, Terry Kilgore, ran unopposed for another term for the Virginia House of Delegates. "I'm the happiest momma in the whole wide world,'' said Willie Kilgore. "How many moms out there had their twin sons running for political office on the same night and both of them get elected? Never in my dreams did I think this could happen. It just proves that anyone - even from a small town in Southwest Virginia - can accomplish anything if they have the desire. I am just so proud right now.'' The former assistant U.S. assistant attorney for western Virginia also spoke on the issue of working with a possible split-ticket administration in Richmond for the next four years. In 1997, Kilgore made an unsuccessful bid for the Republican nomination for attorney general, losing to current running mate Mark Earley. He says it was a experience that got him to the point he was at Tuesday. "Then we entered that race late in the game, and we were not as organized as we should have been,'' Kilgore said. "Over a year ago, we let everyone know early that we were running and made a trek all across Virginia and got commitments very early in the process. I did not have any opposition for my nomination. That was a great opportunity. "It allowed us to start the general campaign in the spring and not wait for the Democrats to have their nominee, setting the tone for the campaign and set the issues. Dear Sherm: My thoughts and prayers are with your family and they will continue. I am so very sorry regarding your brother. I know what the chemo does to him, and the sickness from the chemo is hideous. Our son went through I year of chemo, and radiation for cancer of the brain. I do want you to know that they have changed the chemo, and it is much easier on the body now. But, most of all, I want you and your family to know that miracles do happen. Our son is fine now, he still has the tumor on his brain, however, the tumor did shrink somewhat. They will not say he is in remission, but they do say that he just has to have his check ups and MRI and keep doing what ever he did before. They discovered the tumor in 1990, so that means he has had this horrific disease for 11 years now, and he looks and feels great. He did nothing unusual for the tumor, the only treatments were the chemo and the radiation. As far as I am concerned this is a MIRACLE. We did have a lot of prayers from every where and prayers are still being said for him. Your brother will have prayers from all over also, and they will continue. God Bless; Donna
