Thank all of the Kilgore Clan for the messages, goodwill's, prayers etc. Every one was very much appreciated. Your prayers are what has really assisted me. I am on the mend, but, I do have more tests, etc., to come. I am on the orders as of now, rest, and more rest, which I am doing. My lungs are holding up, and after the tests were taken, the Drs. found out that my lungs have not changed one iota since my tests in1995. The Pulmonary Dr. was elated with that. I cannot get into the heart DR until Jan 21, so the tests will be done after I see him. My EKG came out OK. I (or Gail) will let you know the results as soon as we have any more information. I have gotten out of the house twice, but I am minding very well, So I do stay in the house mostly and rest. There are so many people to thank, for their prayers, messages etc. I love every one of you, and I think you know how much I love this Kilgore board. Gail has been my main stay, and she always will. Randy, Barbekay, Nell, Jenna, Roy from Ft. Worth and every one THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. I will get to some of you individually one at a time. I do not know where either was born, but I do know that James Robert (Bob) Kilgore married Kate McNutt on 10 Aug 1905 in Cordova, Walker Co., AL. It has been passed down that William was probably born in AL, but went to OK and was somewhere in the Indian Territory in the 1890 and returned to AL about 1900. I have Bob and Kate in the 1920 census in Cordova. So in answer to your question, I do not have either family in any other census. After returning home last night from our Christmas trip in NYC with our children and grandchildren I was deeply saddened to read about dear Donna and then before I finished my emails I found that it was not a heart attack, and that made me feel much better. Carolyn, My father was always "real" evasive when I would question him about his family. I still do not have any answers. He passed away in June. The only thing he ever told me was that my grandfather was arrested for bootleggin in his (gf) younger years and that he(gf) had 2 brothers. I have since learned that he also had daughters and I had to read that in his obit. Still have not gotten any further or different info. There for awhile I was beginning to think this tree didn't have any branches. But I do know that whatever I find out will be a stepping stone into my heritage. Like Gail says, we are all human, even our ancestors. When you research old newspapers, do you read some of the articles? They can be quite entertaining. Hang in there and don't stop 5 min. before the miracle happens. Linda, Here are all the males born betw/1869-1876 in the U.S. with their states of birth and states of residence as well as place in family (son, gson, etc.) and first name (which it might or might not be). See if you see any of these that you would like me to look up for you and send you the family group for that child; maybe we can turn up something. Often a child's name changed from one census to another, esp. if they were very young the first time; the parents may have changed what they called the child. Let me know if you would like me to try more; these are just the various spellings of ARDEN as a surname. I will do KEMP next. Oh, yes, this also has the race listed,and yr. of birth (which I have found to be several years off in many cases). Hello to everyone on the list... Since we're talking about our stories - let me share one of mine. My gr-grandfather, Isaac Kilgore died in 1932. When I got a copy of his death certificate the cause of death was listed as "dead when we got there." The interesting thing was that he died while in jail - he had been arrested for making moonshine. (This was in West Virginia.) When I mentioned this to my mother, she accused me of "stirring up trouble" and told me to quit "messing". Another time, when I was checking the 1910 census in Tennessee, I found my grandmother as a child with her parents - what I found interesting was that her oldest sister was listed as being a widow with a small baby (several months old). Again, when I questioned my mother, she told me to "Let sleeping dogs die, and to quit asking questions." When I asked my aunt (Mom's oldest sister), she remembered that my gr-aunt's first husband had been killed in an accident, and the baby died before she was 3 years old. The "silence" of the family is part of the reason that I'm having trouble figuring which William was Isaac's father. I'm working on the premise that he is the William that is buried with Julia A. in Mt Zion Cemetery - am trying to get copies of military records to see if I can link him that way. Good to see the board light up again. On another note...there have been messages to Donna about this being her fist Christmas alone, but there is someone else that has not been mentioned - don't know if she stayed on the board after we lost Jack, but this was Lois Goins first Christmas alone as well. I'm not trying to be critical, just reminding some of us who have been here awhile that there are lots of needs and concerns that we may not even know about. Sorry for the length of this - making up for not having posted in awhile.
