Welcome Christy to our Kilgore Clan. We love to keep adding to our Clan. Jerry did a good job, presto, and you received help on your line. I am happy for you for the great assist. Keep digging and you will have a lot more to add to your family. This is a great bunch, and I know you will like it as more of us Kilgore start posting again! I think every one has been hibernating for the winter, but, now it is time to wake up and get this Kilgore bunch posting once again. We might even have to wake up Randy for one of his classic wake-ups. Hi Randy, I know you are very busy, but we miss you. Can you spare a few minutes to post a hello? Also, one of our clan is ready to have a birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SHERM. I am a little early, Sherm's birthday is tomorrow, I believe. I am thinking of you Sherman, and I wish you the best of birthdays and the rest of the year. My prayers are still with your family. One last thing for today, and that is for me to mention another Kilgore I just heard about -- David Kilgore--he is an Ohio Kilgore, thank you for posting me. I will write you. Love to all of my cousins; Donna
Hi cousin Christy Chrysler, I have signed you up on the Kilgore Genealogy board. Everybody give her a hearty Kilgore welcome! You may post your messages to all our cousins by sending your messages to this URL address: Kilgore-L@Rootsweb.com I think I have found your line and can help you on this one. I went to the Internet and found a reference where your Clayton Mitchell Kilgore who married a Peggy Addington was possibly born in Wise Co., VA. I then went to the Wise Co., VA. Genweb site and found that a MITCHEL C. KILGORE married a MAGGIE ADDINGTON. I think this is your man (Mitchell Clayton Kilgore) rather than the other name. This marriage took place April 5, 1918. This site also shows this man’s parents as being a Raleigh Kilgore who appears to have been married several times. The marriage that pertains to you would be with the woman Nancy Ellen Dorton, daughter of Harvey and Elizabeth ??? Dorton. This marriage took place July 23, 1891. At this Genweb site, I then found that Raleigh Kilgore was the son of Nelson and Katey Kilgore. Here is the 1870 Census of Wise Co., VA. showing Nelson and Katey Kilgore 1870 Wise Co., VA. genealogy.com has a pretty nice searchable 1900 census. I took a one month subscription and it paid tremendous research dividends not to mention time saved working with indices. Mark W. Killgore

I have 14 George Kilgore's but none from Louden Co., VA. Gail
Greetings, I am seeking George Kilgore of VA, and recently when I joined the list, I got a message from Vicki Miller, who said that my George might be of the line of Thomas Kilgore and Rebecca Lassley, of MD, and that someone on this list was researching that family. If so, I would love to hear from you, I cannot find anything concrete on the parents of George, and this might be an interesting connection. thanks, Martha Hamilton Scott __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? RoseMary, I just reread your note and figured out that I had that wrong ... it was Elizabeth Copeland who married an Unkown Scott first and then later married a Kilgore ... Is that better? RoseMary, At this time I do not recall the Elizabeth Scott Copeland (do I have that right? ... she married Copeland first than a Kilgore?) And as far as Craven S. Kilgore; the name sounds familiar, but he is not through my direct line -- maybe I have just seen his name somewhere as I have been researching. I will have to look through what I have and be sure to let you know. Yes, that is right! Elizabeth "Betsy" Copeland. She married an Unknown SCOTT. Then , she married Captain John W.Kilgore. He is a son of Stephen Kilgore and Rebecca Salyer. Sort of cousins to your line! Thank you. I asked because so many times I have found information looking or asking from related or allied families! Hi Cathy, Thanks for the introduction and Scott/Kilgore, etc., info. We come from the same Robert and Winnie clayton Kilgore line. I hope I haven't asked you before, but since you have Scotts, do you know of the UNKNOWN Scott/Elizabeth "Betsy" Copeland marriage? She later married Kilgore. This has always been a very uncertain area of our family lineage with me. Sure wish someone knew for sure, or knew more of these Scotts. My g-g grandmother was AMANDA SCOTT who married CRAVEN S. Sorry, I haven't responded. We've been out of power since the 31st because of an ice storm. I don't have a wife for John Kilgore B:1797 TN s/o William and Jane Henderson Kilgore. I believe that the Caroline Kilgore listed in 1850 census record for Charles M. Kilgore was also John's daughter: 1850 Census-Weakley Co TN WE 110-907 C. Kilgore 52 TN Elizabeth 48 SC Ross 21 John 18 Charles 12 Casa 10 (George W.) "Casey" Catherine 6 Caroline 18 I found a query in a publication for Hickman Co KY which asked about Henry G. Kilgore so I'm pretty certain that this was John H. Kilgore s/o William and Jane. My library doesn't have much info on Hickman Co KY. VickieGet more from the Web. Hi Martha; Welcome to our Kilgore group, we are glad to have you. I do hope you like us, but I am sure you will. We are friendly, helpful and sometimes funny and zany. At other times we have our quiet moments and even do some genealogy online. I am a Californian also. I am in Los Gatos ( Bay Area). Where are you located in CA? Again welcome. Donna
