    3. Dennie, Thank you for taking your time to give us all your good advice. You are so correct, there are so many errors on all TREES. 'They' don't even use common sense. I know there are a lot of you folks that have put many many hours into your research for years and I respect your diligence. Vickie Miller is my mentor, and my line of Kilgores. If she says it, you can take it to the bank!!! I have worked for many years on my Kilgores but she told me more than I ever dreamed of... She talks about them as if she personally knew them... Thank you all for sharing with your less informed COUSINS!!! 3. WARNING I was just looking around ancestry.com's one family tree area. The Kilgores of Marion and Grundy County Tennessee are a mess. They have the wrong people married. The wrong kids are listed. [Well logically that has to be since the parents never existed as a pair.] The dates of birth and death are also wrong. I know it is confusing as so many of the Kilgores had the same names, but there is no excuse for these errors. People are just copying information off the net without getting copies of the primary documentation, such as: birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, census records, wills, etc. They know their grandfather was John Kilgore so they just grabbed the first John Kilgore they came across. The fact that his age is way off didn't seem to bother them at all. Note that I said they instead of he or she. That is because there were multiple sets of errors. I started to correct some of them, but then realized that was an impossible task. There are way too many errors. But it did remind me to get back to my Kilgore project. I am documenting the Kilgores of Coffee, Franklin, Grundy, Marion, Sequatchie and Warren Tennessee counties. I am going through every census, marriage records, death records, photos, bibles, etc. I was making pretty good progress, but then my personal life hit a rough spot and I haven't done squat on the project for over a year. After I complete the initial six counties, I will do Hamilton County Tennessee and north east Alabama. Once the project is completed, I will send a copy to the Tennessee archives, Alabama archives, and each county library in the counties researched. Cousin Dennie

    3. Hi Guys I am sure you all just saw the ad that appeared in our chat post for Gumshoe. We all know it is against Rootsweb rules to advertise on the boards. My guess is that that was posted by a professional "blogger". All these people do all day is to go site to site advertising in this manner. There is a name for this new type of advertising, but I can't think of it right now. Anyway, don't fall for it. The old forms of advertising aren't working anymore, especially on young people, so they have switched to this new trickery. Cousin Dennie

    3. The author has written two books for Tennessee: East Tennessee's Forgotten Children which was published a few years ago and now his new one-West Tennessee's Forgotten Children. Unfortunately, the index for this book is completely messed up. I looked in Weakley Co on the chance that one of the Kilgores listed in the book was there. There were other entries for Kilgore's but unless you go through the book page by page there's no way to know what page the listings are on. W. R. Killgore should be William Ross Kilgore s/o Charles M. Kilgore. William R. Kilgore was killed during the Civil War. ----- Original Message ----- From: Sherry Arnold<mailto:[email protected]> To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, April 26, 2008 3:54 PM Subject: Re: [KILGORE] Weakley Co TN Vickie, is this a one of a kind publication or do other states have such materials?
