Eunice, thanks a million times over for taking care of the Killgore web site. You are all so special to me. Just a note to let everyone know that I am still around here. Have not been active in genealogy in a wile. Been busy with my youngest one and hear activities. She is in the FFA, plays Soccer, also a participant int he Oregon High School equestrian Team for her local school. We are rarely at home. Thinking of that we were at the rodeo all weekend working and for whatever reason I thought one of those critters was randy, but I was so truly mistaken. It was actually one of the steers being wrestled tot eh ground for being so naughty. LOL Ok, I will say this. During the really rough times of my husband passing this group helped me keep my sanity together. I love the trading of the barbs, the funny comments made etc. Why do some people take genealogy so serious now? One thing I always think about is how did they ever survive? We have all the modern conveniences thanks to them, we have the phone, running water, portable potty rooms etc. I would love to know more about them, their personal writings, their day to day life. These writings on here tell me who you all are and I for one will never forget any of you even if I never meet you in person. That would only be a dream come true. Someone quick call Oprah for a Killgore moment. LOL OK, have to get off and run. Working the rodeo tonight, our last night for this year. Dd **************Gas prices getting you down? 1. [KILGORE] Ketchup time
    2. Dennie so grateful you are back. 1. Re: [KILGORE] Dennie's back and needs Oklahoma help
    2. Now, THAT'S the Dennie we all know and love! Welcome back, Dennie! I don't have any information on this Jenny, but if it will cheer you up, I'll happily make something up and bribe some town clerk to enter it into the public records for you! (We've been doing that for years in the hopes you would apply for the DAR, and then we could scandalize you at the ceremony by revealing your documents were faulty.) I was pretty sure you were going to make it, since during my prayer times I kept getting this picture of God shaking His head and telling a gathering of angels that He "wasn't sure heaven could take Dennie just yet." Plus, I think He also decided we hadn't been punished down here enough, so He was leaving you here to harass us a bit longer. (Just in case it doesn't translate, I inserted a smiley face winking right here.) Seriously, Dennie, it is so very good to hear from you again. Do please take it slow! I still have number of you on my prayer list, and would love to see any health updates you've got...with apologies to the pure genealogists among us. Warmest regards, Randy PS. I keep getting notes on the side from people who are irritated about the non-genealogy posts. I'd just like to say I would kill for ANY KIND OF WRITING from my ancestors, and I can't help but believe that the personal exchanges we've shared here for years will be welcome to our descendants doing their genealogies someday. Maybe, maybe not. Though I keep them to a minimum these days (we were really "bad" in the old days when Jerry, Allen, Tim, Barbekay, Donna, DD, and all the old gang cranked this thing up. I used to spend hours laughing at how weird the rest of you were and how utterly normal I am... (smiley face w/ sunglasses here.) Not to worry; I'll slip back up to the rafters and be quiet again soon. In a message dated 7/6/2008 1:38:23 P.M. 2. Kilgore, Texas: I put search terms "Kilgore Texas" and "+namessake" into the search engine and the first hit was this, from Wikipedia: Begin quote: Kilgore was founded in 1872 when the International-Great Northern Railroad completed the initial phase of rail line between Palestine and Longview. The rail chose to bypass a small community approximately 10 miles southeast of Longview, New Danville, in lieu of a new townsite platted on 174 acres sold to the rail by Constantine Buckley Kilgore, the town's namesake. End quote. >From my recollection of his family group: Constantine Buckley Kilgore came from Georgia with his parents in about 1845 and settled in Rusk County, TX. He became a state senator, and a famous jurist in the Indian territory. He died about 1899. Happy Fourth of July to all the cousins out there! Christopher (Kit) Kilgore
