I looked on Ancestry-they only have 1 submission to Kilgore surname. Bob suggested that those of you who are submitting your lineage to please include dates and locations for your earliest ancestors. Thanks, Vickie
Hi Gang, I'm well behind in my "Kilgore" reading here, but if it's males with the Kilgore surname you need, I'm one of them. Actually, you all should be thanking ME for the fine work everyone on this board is doing; they're all desperately trying to prove they're not related to me! Vickie and Dennie keep sending me "Please tell us you were adopted" emails, but I just keep sending them back pictures of me photoshopped into their family albums! Anyway, if somebody can send me an email that tells me step-by-step what I should do to help with the DNA project, I'm in. By the way, Dd, I will be on the West Coast in November. So far it's the Los Angeles area only, but I expect that will change soon. My other likely stops in the near future will be Lancaster, PA; Kansas City, MO; Grand Rapids, MI; NYC; Minneapolis, MN. I'll know other locations in a couple of weeks. Warm regards as always, Randy **************Psssst...Have you heard the news? Excellent thinking. Ancestry does own Family tree. I have FT16 but there is a FT2008 out and I can't upgrade. I also have a family tree on the internet. http://trees.ancestry.com.............. I think that most sites allow you to enter the DNA codes that you receive from other labs. So the lab that you use will automatically check their database, then you can go to other DNA company sites and manually enter your results into their database and compare. Here is a link showing what Ancestry results look like: http://dna.ancestry.com/sampleTest.aspx;jsessionid=F8D17FA2EC8738D41D88A97A87A1242F.dna03 Also, Ancestry will email you if there is a close match. I have not ordered a kit yet, but I followed the process down a bit and when ordering you have a choice of ordering on behalf of someone else. Hope that helps. Or does this Kilgore Surname Project collect results from different labs -what I mean is; Ancestry has a special this month for about $75.00 for 37 marker test according to Jaelene's message yesterday. This price is limited to only Ancestry's members though. But if someone used Ancestry's labs would the results get to this project or would Ancestry hold them for their own purposes? BUT, what if the person who submitted the DNA wishes to share the cheaper lab results with the lab with the more expensive testing. DNA results belong to the submitter. Today was the first time in quite awhile since I really checked out the site for our family webpage. Myfamily.com says we have a lot more space to fill up a total of 932 mb to be more specific. That is a lot of space for more pictures of yourselves, your ancestors. I see a lot of vacation pictures up there. It is great to get an opportunity to see what other countries look like. This is a story I have to share with you all as to why I like seeing pictures. One of the Kilgores, and I cannot remember her name, shared a picture of herself when she was about 18 or so. When I seen that picture it made me think of one of my first cousins. They were about 20 years in age difference but they looked identical. After forwarding the picture onto her she shared it with her father, family historian, and he was also astounded at the resemblance. So come on folks if your not hooked into the site let me or Eunice know privately and we will add you onto the site. Thanks for all the Kilgore DNA. It is very fascinating. Looking forward to seeing the results. Dd **************Psssst...Have you heard the news? There's a new fashion blog, plus the latest fall trends and hair styles at StyleList.com. We need to get a list of all the male Kilgore's who carry the Kilgore surname or know that they were born a Kilgore. Then when we have volunteers in certain lines, we can decide who will be tested. Also, note that things could have happened that you do not know about, sometimes it is not a happy ending. I have worked with a man who thought he was a certain surname to find out his DNA doesn't match so had his nephew tested and the nephew matched. Both parents have passed away so here is a man who doesn't know what his true surname is. I have been buried this past couple of days but think things will settle down for a week or so. I have not checked but isn't Ancestry also the owner of FamilyTree? Gail
