Thanks for telling me all about the ground suppers, Ramona, and I'd love to hear some good ghost stories. Barbara, I can sure remember chewing paraffin too, but don't think it was because of the war, probably because we lived way out in the country and didn't get to town much. I was just a kid during the big polio epidemic and one lonesome kid, too. I wasn't allowed off the farm all summer long that year, so had no contact with any kids other than my little sister. I can remember being so disappointed at not being able to go to the State Fair that summer. I checked on net and found the dates of the Kentucky Folklife Festival in Frankfort for 1999. It's being held Sept. 16-18. It's held in the town square and then some of it spreads out to other areas. There's music almost non-stop all day long and up into the night. I did research right there in the KY Historical Society building, then would take breaks when my eyes wore out and go out and listen to the music. Sherry in Arizona
Hi Sherry! We will get our Ghost Tales going---I hope by tonight. Thank you for posting the date of the Kentucky Folklife Festival. I hope to make it to Frankfort by early next year--I would love to do Family Research there.
