Good Morning, Legend-neers............. It's a great day here in Tennessee too. I am busy doing laundry (the old fashioned way in my wringer washer) and oiling my hardwood floor. Company is coming! My sister and bro-in-law will be here tomorrow -- first time to visit in this home -- so am going to try to put my best foot forward. I'm at least intending to get the cobwebs off the ceilings! LOL Will catch up tonight I hope. Everyone enjoy the day! I haven't made applebutter in years. My kids are grown and gone so I don't make as much jelly as I used to. One thought came to mind; you have to keep an eye on the applebutter so it doesn't scorch. So how about using a crock pot with the lid off? It'd cook slowly but I don't think it'd scorch. I'm getting old and tired, so I'm always looking for a way to do things easier! I've been doing genealogy for years and served as a volunteer librarian at a Family History Center, even though I'm not LDS (Mormon). Most of us can go back to some European royalty if we look far enough back and check far enough out on the family tree's branches! Now, all the royalty way back (like Charlamagne) claimed to be descendents of Adam and Eve because they based their right to be the ruler on "Divine Right". In other words, God wanted them to rule. So, they had these family trees made up showing how they were descendent from Adam and Eve. Also Cain if you think about it! Now just how honest was that family tree? The ruler who comissioned it sure had strong motive to find Adam and Eve, didn't he? I know a very sweet elderly Mormon fella who really believes he's traced himself back to Adam and Eve. I don't argue with him out of respect, but I admit I am very skeptical. Bobbie, you and your friend are in my prayers. Annie P.S. My people are from Pike, Floyd and Johnson Co. The names I research are Damron/Dameron, Adkins, Mullins, Sword and Bailey. From Tennessee, Knox and Maury Co. Roberts, Hughes and Godsey.
Dolores, My "sometimers" must be working today, because for the life of me I can't remember what I sent. Please refresh this memory of mine of the piece of documentation you are referring to. Thanks. Mary
Mary, Where on earth did you get this? Is there any way that the rest of us can view this? That sure is a nice piece of documentation. Dolores

Good night, sleep tight, don't let the bess bugs bite. Mary
Thanks Joann, There is a new LDS library that just opened that is only about a mile from my house so I will go check it out. I will also check out the familysearch site and compare with what I have. Mary
I purchased the chart through my Churches genealogy library. I do not know if they all have them or not though. If you have an lds (church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) chapel in your town, chances are they have a genealogy library there with specified hours that they are open. You can check there. If they don't have it they may be able to get it for you. If they can't or you don't want to fool with that I will see if there is any way to copy this one and send it to you. that is also a very valueable place to get alot of good information and they will or should be more than willing to help you. They have computers, cds, microfilm and fish, and many books available. Especially if they have been there for a while. Meanwhile, you can go to their site on the internet, they do tell that these sources are not documented and to use them only for reference. http://www4.familysearch.org/Browse/browse.asp is the address. When you get there go to the "Search for Ancesters" section and type in your Sturgill line beginning with Lewis' son. Put the two generations in and it should give you what I have. Now Ramona has been there and said she found several mistakes, but it will give you a starting place and you won't believe how far it goes back. If you go to the details section on individual records, which you get by double clicking on individual names, you will see who submitted the information also. There are mistakes, but it will get you started. Let me know, and I would be happy to collaberate with you. thanks Lynn. Mary
bobbie that is wonderful. I am so glad you got to see your friend and that you know that she knows you were there and shares your dear love. I am so happy you had that opportunity. This is a really hard time for you, but remember that these dear loved ones are going to much higher plains than we are and when they enter into the peace of the Lord, that is what we all seek. They will be there waitting for us, when our turn comes. The Lord loves all of his children, including us, and as he makes them whole and perfect in health, he will also comfort us. My prayers stay with you and your loved ones. Hi Joann, When I took a genealogy course, the instructor said we could go all the way back to Adam & Eve and I was a little skeptical, because of all the name changes and using first names only or first names and the town name for a last name, only to change it again when they moved to a new location. This is great! Where did you find it and is it available to be purchased? Who is your last person that branched off the Sturgills? We can exchange info if you like. Mary
From: Joann Holland <joemar@kyol.net> I asked Winfred King about the Kings in Whitley County, he said he was not related as far as he knew. Atleast we tried. Joann, Thanks for asking! Bobbie
Everyone, Well, I made it through today. I went to the funeral home, & then I left to go to hospital to be with my friend's family. They upgraded her from critical to serious, so she is a little better! That was the first good news! Then her sister & children insisted that I take a turn & go in to see her. Soon as she saw me, she reached out her arms & started crying & told me she loved me, that she was afraid that she wouldn't get a chance to tell me. I'm sitting here crying joyous tears because the Good Lord gave me a chance to tell her that I loved her & how much she has meant to me. I was so afraid that I wouldn't be given the chance to tell her again. She is still in bad shape, but she was in better shape than before. She is scared. She hasn't had time to deal with the cancer. It's only been a week since she found out. Thank you, Kay, Ramona, Joann, Lynn, Dolores, Mary, & Grandma Fern for your kind words. Grandma Fern, that was a lovely poem. Thank you. And thank all of you for your prayers. They mean a lot to me. Please keep her on your prayer list. You all are a wonderful bunch of people!!! Bobbie
I have a very elusive ancestor that I need help with. His name is John Lewis (Mac) McSweeney. He was b. Ireland 1818-1820, joined the Union side of the Civil War at age 45, mustered in at Grayson, KY 9/9/1863. The first time I find him is in Carter Co.,KY 1851 when he married Eliza Stafford. They had one child Katherine b. in Johnston Co.,KY and the rest in Morgan & Elliott Co. He lived the rest of his life in Elliott Co. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mary
Thank you all for the offers of help and now it is time for me to say: GOOD NIGHT LADIES GOOD NIGHT LADIES GOOD NIGHT LADIES IT'S TIME TO SAY GOODNIGHT See you all in the morning. Ramona
Mary; I have information on some lines coming off the Sturgill line going back quite far. I don't have documentation however on alot of it. It is a starting place, if you know what I mean. I put my hands on something very valueable to me today. It is Genealogy of many lines of royality all the way back to Adam and Eve and this is suppose to be documented, much of which is given on the sheet. It is poster size and very interesting.
