My Internet provider is shutting down tonight for maintenance and repair. This company is drivin' me nuts! They are a young company and do give good service--they just have alot to learn. That is why my messages have been hit and miss today---forgive me. And let us hope ZoomNet gets the kinks out of their equipment. We need to start on our Web Space! And I hope I can give Kentucky Legends better service---when ZoomNet gets me better service! We will get the genealogy and book lists up---promise. And we will have a good Web Page---please be thinking about what you would like on it---and let me know. Ramona
Hi Liv, Thank you for another good Ghost Story. Maybe we can set one night a week aside for tellin' haint tales. How does that sound to everyone. Please let me know. Ramona
KIM SANDY BARBARA NANCY: Our Positive Thoughts and Our Prayers are With You. I am sure the others here on Legends have been watching the Weather Channel and thinking of you all. Please keep us posted as long as possible. I know in some areas they were getting ready to cut off the electrical power. You all are much braver than I would ever be. Sincerely, Ramona LOL
Thank you, Joann. I am now worried about a friend that lives by Morehead City, NC. They thought Floyd was coming in around Myrtle Beach and going to stay west of them, so they did not evacuate. They are now stuck out on their barrier island. I am really praying hard for everyone in the path of this monstrous storm. Nancy: benttree@bright.net
Hi Everyone, I'm sorry I'm not participating this week. This week and til next Tuesday are my busiest two weeks of the year. I am very involved in the Scottish Terrier Club of Canada, I am editor of the newsletter, and also do membership duties. I send a 28 page newsletter to 110 people all across Canada and also a few US members. I've finally got it to the printer yesterday, and today and doing labels and hope to pick it up and mail out tomorrow. At the same time this week, I've been showing my 17month old Scottie. We have been doing well and as of Monday she is a Canadian Champion. I am also grooming two other Scotties, and helping their owners. We have more shows each day until Monday. I also have about 10 lists that have high volume and have about 500+ emails in my inbox! About 120 each day! Yikes, because my time is so limited, I have had to skim the messages and try to keep up with what is going on. The Scavenger Hunt sounds fun, will join in when time permits. I love all the recipes! Homemade soaps sound like a wonderful Christmas present. Last year I made Tree Decorations for everyone, the year before, Bee's Wax Candles. (If you can purchase the sheets of honey comb wax in the US - I can offer some ideas for different types of candles, from fluted to Mini Christmas Trees, to Birthday Candles, they are all non drip! Just yell for instructions!) I would like to make a small request, if I may? To make it easier for me to follow the topics, Please check the subject line of your post. I was saving the bios for future reference, and I noticed alot of the posts with the "bios" were replys or comments, not bios. The majority of the posts are on subject, I know I have to remind myself to check it too! Maybe I'm too new at this all, but I find it it hard to sort through everything, especially when I am this busy and don't have time to read every post. Sorry everyone, I do not read every one :( Wish I had the time!! I hate to miss any of the new ideas, or the recipes I want to try. I do have a file I save ones to read later, and it's huge too! Any other ideas to keep this all in order? The inbox only holds a certain amount? Hope I can keep up with you all! Please no one take offence!! It's such a wonderful warm friendly group, you're all like friends already! Leona of Canada
I like buckskins as a KY image(I saw a great mountain man a couple of weeks ago, his costume was nice, too). Kim Hope you all come through this storm tomorrow, or tonight, whenever Floyd hits. Be careful, and we will praying for everyone. barbara
Sounds like the worst is over for you, glad to hear it. We will have our go with Floyd tomorrow morning. The local weather service is calling for high winds, torrential rains up to 15", dangerous lightening, flash floods, etc. Our governor has declared a state of emergency, even though the hurricane should be down-graded to a tropical storm before it hits this area. Our worst fear is that he will turn up into the Chesapeake, then we have serious trouble. On another note: has anyone turned up any info on George Lathrem or Nancy Ann Johnson? Hi Pat, I read the "Bell Witch" written by one of Old Master Bell's sons; it liked to of scared me to death. I also read a really good account of what the "Bell Witch" probably was. John (is it John?--it's been a long time since I read the "Bell Witch") had a very bad conscience over a cold-hearted act he had done. We will tell the story one night--even the "true facts" are disturbing. Hi Judy, I am trying to get some links up so we can go to the sites offering books right through our e mail. Did you visit any of the 3 links that worked (out of 5 isn't so bad) I sent this morning? Hi Dolores, We are here it just seems to be a slow day; I received a message from MSN saying mail delivery and Internet Connection would be slow because of FLOYD. It seems the News Organizations are keeping the Internet working over- time today and then of course everyone checking on their loved ones. Let us all pray this storm passes soon--and without loss of life--property can be replaced by not loved ones. Ramona, I usually receive all the messages on KENTUCKY LEGENDS LIST and I haven't received any since this morning. There's usually alot on here. Have I been accidentally unsubscribed? Dolores
Ramona: I need to verify something to see if I am reading the right thing... David Andrew Sturgill - he states that we are descendants of Abraham Lincoln? am I looking at the right name? Leona
Hi List, Hey, isn't it fablous that some of our member friends wish to hear more than once per day. Sounds as if some one is smiling down on this most precious list, does it not???/ It is time for us to receive some blessings, huh? Some times some of the list are fueding by the end of a week...........this list sounds something special, don't y'all think? ------- Some ghosts I have met and some of the ghosts chasers have had as varied experiences sa the ghost legends they are chasing. -----------I wish we could attract some sea stories from some story teller..........In Maine there is supposed to be a headless sailor that comes ashore and can be followed to one of the elegant old homes with the watch walk and on dark nights a red and a white light can be observed from time to time on the upstairs watgh walk. The man that owned the house was lost at sea and his wife soon disappeared from the town. A legend had been as to what became of her .b but supposedly she has not been found in the families genalogical research. So why the headless sailor ? Is he looking for his lost wife?
Delores; yes it has been very quiet here today I agree...
