    1. Re: [KYL&F] A FAVOR TO ASK OF THE LEGENDERS
    2. Pat Oneal
    3. You worry too much! Actually, it just takes the mention of something interesting, or a question that others can follow up on, and your subject for the day is off and running. In fact, the subject can sometimes continue for several days if there is enough common interest. I always notice that the mention of a subject in someone else's message spurs a thought with me. And you don't have to ask me twice to submit my 2 cents worth. I like to tell stories, so many of you may even get tired of my longwindedness. .........Pat -----Original Message----- From: Ramona <kywy@zoomnet.net> To: KENTUCKY-LEGENDS-L@folklore.rootsweb.com <KENTUCKY-LEGENDS-L@folklore.rootsweb.com> Date: Sunday, September 19, 1999 5:46 PM Subject: [KYL&F] A FAVOR TO ASK OF THE LEGENDERS >If you do not like what is being discussed would you speak up and suggest >a topic of conversation? >I ask this every day in the morning greeting---make suggestions---comments >speak up---but please do not unsubscribe with no explanation. >How can we have a good list if people just quit without a word being said? >Thank you. >Ramona > > > >

    3. I imagine by now that most of you have heard about the Fire in Louisville's Public Library yesterday. The fire was to the lower floor, and someone said that was under the genealogy section. They have posted pictures of the fire damage at the library site for those of you that want to take a look. The URL is: http://www.lfpl.org Nancy: benttree@bright.net

    1. Re: [KYL&F] THE HOBBLE SKIRT---To Quote Nancy!
    2. Pat Oneal
    3. I never knew the straight skirts as hobble skirts. They were also called stovepipe skirts. My dad had one of those big old Hudsons, the kind you had to step up and over to get inside the backseat. Well, in order to get your leg high enough to go over the rim, you had to pull that straight skirt up high enough. And, high enough was way above the knees. Yes, that could attract a little attention now and then! 1. [KYL&F] Sunday Services
    2. Grandma Fern
    3. Jan- Church was fine. It was an outdoor service under a tent. Everyone brought their own chairs or stood up.. All churches represented contributed to the service in some way or another. There solos and a couple of specials from the Dixson Family Gospel Singing Group. They have a couple of teen-agers in the group. The boy (14 years old and sings bass) sang the lead in one song and I really enjoyed it. I spoke on heritage from the standpoint of what Christ has done for us and then asked the question "What kind of a heritage are we leaving to our children. It was a sort of top of the head message because the wind blew my notes away just as I finished with the scripture. So you can see I really thank you for your prayers. They are truly appreciated - More than you know - Grandma Fern

OK Ladies speak out---who was brave enough to wear a hobble skirt. Mary? Kay? Leona---I know you were too young---Joann to I believe. Helen? Dolores? Speak up---this is fun! 3. Hi Sherry, Jim Ed Brown sang that old sang. He sang with his two sisters I believe---we had an old LP Album by them. Jim Ed still sings this song at the Grand Ole Opry---I got to see him sing at the Opry---Nashville is FUN! I am glad you are enjoying the stories here on Kentucky Legends. The Bells did ring 3 times for the Baby Jimmy Brown---I always want to call the song that---but that isn't the title. His Birth His Marriage His Death Thank you for sharing!
