Hi List, Seeking the family of JAMES A. MOWRE, etc. who was born in Kentucky in ca. 1826. He married MARGARET _____ (b. ca. 1831 in Indiana) and had these six children: 1. John W. b. 1848 in Iowa. 2. William b. 1851 in Iowa. 3. Mary Lucinda b. 1853 in Iowa. 4. Amanda E. b. 1855 in Iowa. 5. Catherine b. 1859 in Iowa. 6. Martha b. 1861 in Davis Co. IA d. 1936 in Perry Co. IL. She married Elsworth Brown and David Stowers. James and Margaret lived in Davis CO. IA (Salt Creek Twp) and had ties to Van Buren CO. IA. James served in the Civil War as a Private (37th Iowa Infantry--does anyone have a book for a lookup on this?). He might have died as a result of the war in the 1860s (or were they divorced?) as he does not appear on the 1870 Davis CO. census with his family (his wife Margaret is listed as MARGARET SHEPPARD). I have no idea where he is buried. There is also a SARAH MOWERY, WILEY MOWERY, and JOSEPH MOWERY in the 1850-60 census of Van Buren CO. IA (Jackson Twp.).
