I am looking for the descendants and information about Elijah D. McEndree from Henry County, Kentucky in 1830 and perhaps before that. I would like to know who his parents, siblings and children were and his wife's maiden name if anyone can help me with this. Elijah D. McEndree was about 25 years old in 1930 in Henry County, Kentucky. His wife's name was Nancy. They had a son named Henry Martin McEndree. I don't know if there were other children or not. In his household were two other McEndree men, JAMES MCENDREE, about 75 years old and JOHN MCENDREE, about 65 years old. Living in the house next door was a REUBEN MCENDREE about 55 years old. I have no idea of the relationship with these men, but I would assume that at least one of them was Elijah's father and perhaps grandfather, but I have no idea which if any. That is all I have actually found on him. In 1840, he was not in Henry Co., Kentucky. But in 1840, there was REUBEN MCENDREE and next door to him was ROBERT MCENDREE. I am guessing that perhaps, Robert was Reuben's son. I know that Henry Martin McEndree, Elijah's son, went to Schyler Co., Missouri and married 1st Mary Goldsberg and they had two children, Martin G. McEndree and a girl, Henry Etta McEndree. Then I guess, Mary died and he married a Sarah H. Crowder in Schyler Co., Missouri but it was quite a bit later. They had four children, 1. Abagail McEndree was born in Schyler Co., Mo. but the last three children were born in Osborne Co., Kansas. They were: 2. Nancy McEndree who married a Powell as did Abagail; 3. Cora E. who only lived to be about 2 years old; 4. Alvin Crowder McEndree, my husband's grandfather was the last child born to him. I guess Sarah died and then Henry Martin McEndree and his young son, Alvin became cowboys and rode the Chisolm Trail between Kansas and Texas driving cattle. I believe Henry died on one of those drives while Alvin was a young boy and he buried his Dad out the prairie and went on herding cattle. The McEndree's tend to be tall and lanky men. I have traced down several different McEndree names and names that are similiar, like McKendree who are probably kin to them, but I can't connect any of the others. I have found another Elijah McEndree descendant living in Colorado and she says that what she knows of Elijah began in Lucas, Iowa where he married and had another family. I am hearing that the McEndree family tended to go west from Kentucky. They seemed to go to Ohio, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and some went into Florida and maybe Tennessee. I think they orignated from Virginia when first coming to America. I don't know if they came from Scotland or Ireland. It seems more likely that it is Scotland, but I can't prove anything at this point. Sure would appreciate hearing from someone on this.
