Cummings, 79, of 231 Robinhood Lane, Bloomington, died at 10:50 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 28, 2000) at 156 The Meadows, Bloomington. His memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at East Lawn Memorial Home, Bloomington. He was cremated. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Mr. Cummings was born Sept. 14, 1921, at Caneyville, Ky., a son of Elmer and Pallie King Cummings. He married Evelyn Priest on Oct. 28, 1950, at Bloomington. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Brenda (Allan) Ausiekker, Bloomington; three sons, David (Mary) Cummings, Normal; Douglas (Laurel) Cummings, Heyworth; and Rich (Becky McCormick) Cummings, Plano, Texas; a sister, Helen Puckett, Bloomington; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother. Mr. Cummings was a retired plumber with 30 years of service of Local 99. He was a member of the VFW, the Moose, Eagles and the American Legion. He was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. He loved to talk but was a man of few words.
