Nancy, Thanks a million for the help. Let me see if I can put some of what you found in perspective for you. I can't recall anything specific about some of the names. Peter H., Isaac, James, and John Matthews (not MY John) were brothers, descended from a Victor Matthews who immigrated to the new world (if I remember correctly) in the early 1700s. Other researchers have eliminated all of them as possible fathers for my John except James. I haven't totally given up on any of them, however. Ebenezer Alexander Sr. was Mary Ann (wife of my John) McKinney's grandfather. Ebenezer Jr., William P. (for Patton), and Joseph Alexander were Mary Ann McKinney's uncles. Now, for a little extra, just in case you run across any of these names. Because of close birth dates and places, similarly named children, and similar migration patterns, I suspect Greenbury (Greenberry?) to be my John's brother, and Rebecca Matthews to be their sister. All had sons named John and Isaac. Greenbury and Rebecca also had sons named James. Sound familiar? After my John's death, Rebecca (Married to Ebenezer Alexander Robertson) and Greenbury migrated to the same area of Illinios (and are buried in the same graveyard). Mary Ann McKinney-Matthews remarried several times (Gladhill, Babbs, Coleman, Wade) but also ended up in Illinois. I don't know where she died or is buried. I would appreciate if you'd keep me in mind if you run across any of these people. Again, thanks a million for your help! Don't hesitate to let me know if there is anything I can do to repay you in kind.
