    1. Re:German settlements
    2. Does anyone know if there were areas in Kentucky that were populated mostly by German people. These areas would be considered as colonies or settlements. Someone on this list mentioned Brunner Town? Any families with German names living in Ky about 1830-1880? My grandmother was Anna Vass. That is a German name. She was born in Hart county,Ky. in 1864. She spoke German and English. Anna was also part American Indian. Anna went to Chicago,Il. Met John Hardin,He was from Texas. They married.Moved to Ca.,near San Francisco. A city named Alameda. It had a big group of German people living in it in the early 1900's. John also spoke German as well as English. I have learned that people didn't go to some new place to live with- out someone they knew going there first. Dianne Hardin in Ca. near San Francisco
