I know that John was born in NC, but both lived just across the border from Bell Co., KY in early 1800s - 1840s. One of John's boys moved after that to Lee Co, VA, but the Lingar's owned land in Bell Co, and had a cemetery there. Sampson Goodman was,( by data I received from cousins) born in Claiborne Co, E.TN, but possibly in KY. The land John Lingar got for his service in War of 1812 is on the Claiborne Co. side of the line, but other land settled was in Bell Co, just over the border along Indian Creek and the Mingo settlement. If anyone has any knowledge of these names, I would really appreciate it. I know some of the Lingars still live in KY, and lots of Goodmans settled there, but I haven't been able to connect Sampson with anyone, thanks to two courthouse burnings in Claiborne Co. I went there last summer, and saw the land....but not many records. He must have been dropped by the stork. > Thank you.
