3. Here's a new KYGenWeb Special Collections project - KY African-American Griots. From their introductory page to the site: "In early Africa, there were tribal members, called griot's (gree-oh), whose role was to pass on their tribes history from one generation to the next. They were the storytellers of the time and their role was to preserve the genealogies and traditions of the tribe. Today in America, we have those that we can call griot's also. They are the family members who thirst for knowledge of their ancestry. They bring life to their ancestors by their endless researching and pass it on so future generations will know their heritage." Founders of this new project are Charee Harvey and Jerry Taylor. The site is located at: PLEASE CLICK HERE http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyafamer/ I know this site will be a boon to those with African American roots in KY. ~Sherri
