Is there anyone that is related or connected to any Maxwell's on the list? I have a William Maxwell who was born in 1800 in Kentucky (probably near Louisville) and married to Harriett Dolson who was born in New York in 1803. They married in Clark County, Illinois in 1823 and were living in Vermilion county, Illinois during the 1850 census. One source shows his father as John Maxwell who is shown as being born in Alexandria, Campbell Co, Kentucky about 1775. At least one of William's daughters, Jane was born in Vermilion county in 1842 and later married George Misner and moved to Sterling, Kansas. William & Harriett had another daughter named Mary who was born in 1838 and a son Thomas born in 1844. I live in Asia, and so have no access to any library resources. I've been at a standstill on these two for quite some time. I found a Susan Maxwell in a Quaker obituary for Sterling Kansas in 1898, who I think might be a relative. She was born in 1841. Any leads or advice would be much appreciated. Frank Cullison ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! If anyone can ID this family, please post, thanks, Nena http://www.accessgenealogy.com Biographies The Indian Territory, Its Chiefs, Legislators and Leading Men Released 10 July 2003 Flournoy, D. H. The subject of this sketch was born March 1, 1848, in Natchitoches, Texas, and is son of Samuel Flournoy, originally from near Lexington, Kentucky, and at one time owner of a large plantation and a number of slaves. Samuel Flournoy organized a company in 1846 and went with Samuel Houston to the Mexican war. The subject of our sketch, D. H. Flournoy, was educated at a private school until the age of sixteen, when he joined the Confederacy, serving under Colonel Crump until the close of the war. On his return home he worked in the cattle business until 1871, when he married Miss Anna Wilson, daughter of Captain John Wilson, of Wood County, Texas. After this Mr. Flournoy engaged in farming in Wood County until 1884, and then returned to the Indian Territory, locating on Grand River, and there remained for five years farming. In 1885 he removed to Tahlequah, the capital, and engaged in the hotel business, which he continued until his removal to Chelsea, in January 1891, where he has followed the same business until the present. By his marriage Mr. Flournoy has six children, five of whom are living and are named respectively: Ellen M., born August 9, 1872 Lella J., born April 15, 1874 Roligh D., born July 15, 1876 Walter G., born February 2, 1882 Clara May, born September 2, 1884. Mrs. Flournoy is a cousin of the late Chief Mayes. She is a lady of accomplishments and well educated, possessing many good social qualities, which endear her to all who have the pleasure of her acquaintance. She is connected with some of the leading families of the nation, the Adairs, Thompsons, Fields, etc. Mr. and Mrs. Flournoy are worth about $3,000 in real estate and other property, some of which is located in Texas. _________________________________________________________________ Find a broadband plan that fits. I'm looking for a marriage that took place between 1860 and 1865. And a birth that took place about 1864 or 1865. The county is unknown. The marriage was between William R. TALLEY and Josephine MORTON (Cecilia R. J. MORTON). The birth was of Georgia (Georgie, Georgianna) TALLEY. William and Josephine were the parents. Bill Allen <misterbill@pdq.net>
Many thanks to Annette Peebles who's taken a submission from Darilee Bednar and formatted it access by our KY Researchers. Entitled "Soldiers of the Great War", it's a listing of all KY Soldiers that fell during World War I. Besides a listing of names (broken down by county, if known), there are also photos of some of the soldiers. You can find the project at http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ky/military/wwi Be sure to also checkout the "unknown county" soldiers and let us know if you can identify the county for any of these. Thanks, Annette, for your interest in making this available for all of us.

Hello Everyone: Those of you who are working on your lines back to your 1600s American Ancestors will find the1600s Ancestors Data Base to be of great help. I have recently posted over 1,500 new Ancestors to the Data Base bringing the total to just over 28,000 entries. Also listed are several National Societies who have proven many of these Ancestors. There are a few new respected Reference works that contain thousands of sources All the entries are coded to indicate to which reference work or which National Society has at least one of their proven lines. Several of the National Societies have over 20 different lines from a single Ancestor. When you enter the 1600s Ancestor Data Base be sure to look at the top of each data page for the link that takes you to the "Data Base Information Page" Here you will find the codes and references listed and how to use them. This is MUST reading to understand the Data Base. We are constantly updating the Data Base with additional Ancestors added as time permits. You will find the 1600s Ancestor Data Base at: http://www.firstfamilies.org/db/ For those of you who are AOL members you may have trouble connecting to many pages that may come up with a message such as "Page Does Not Exist" and you can cure that by using your browser feature of Copy and Paste the URL to your browser and then enter from there. Everyone has FREE access to all our web site and the reports contained there. Enjoy and Happy Hunting Ryan Jackson Data Base Manager America's First Families
Hi, I have a new group on yahoogroups that is a family-oriented group and is for a mixture of genealogy, recipes, prayer requests, sharing stories, poems, news, photos, and chatting. My gg grandfather was John Matthews (b. btwn 1810-16, probably in Hopkins County, Kentucky, d. abt 1846 probably in Hopkins County, KY). He was married to Mary Ann McKinney (b. abt 1816, prob. in Hopkins County, KY, d. aft. 1870, probably in Illinois or Missouri) on June 4, 1835 in Hopkins County, KY. I have been unable to find John Matthews's father or mother. I recently found an unattributed notation on the internet that lists John Matthews (b. 1816 in KY, d. 1846) and lists his father as James Matthews (b. 1789 in Glasgow, Barren County, Kentucky) and his mother as Elizabeth Strawther (b. 1790 in Virginia). The listing says James and Elizabeth married in 1814 in Kentucky. All this information meshes well with my gg grandfather except that I have never seen any referrence to his mother before. I have, however, found some referrence to a James Matthews that lead me to believe he could be his father. I have spent quite a bit of time but cannot find any more information to help clarify this. Can anybody help me? Thanks in advance. Scott Matthews dsmatt@sheltonbbs.com
