He is listed as living in Breckinridge co. He was born on or before 1779 probably. From: "Alan Jones at home" <alanjones10@cox.net> There is a Will for a Samuel Spencer in Scott Co., KY Will book B, page 346, Dec. 1815 It is copied in the book "Kentucky Records" vol. II by Ardery on page 158. It appears his wife was Margaret. =============== Alan......I would be interested in the will as we had Spencer's md into our Grass & Berry's which md into our Smeathers....BTW-might yr Jones be related to Henry Jones line ?? of Spencer co Ind ? ============================ Then thru influence of Judge GRASS of Spencer Co, was organized by an act of Legislature in session 1817-1818. Judge Grass was at this time representative fr Warrick Co. He lived in what is now Ohio Township and saw the co should be formed bet Anderson Creek on East and Pigeon Creek on west and North to Dubois Co. He had a bitter political fight with RATCLIFF BOON [ODD-Henry JONES named one of his sons Radtcliff Boone] of Warrick Co over its organization but Judge Grass won. It was Daniel Grass who had the Co named Spencer in honor of Capt Spier Spencer his warm friend who was killed at Tippecanoe Nov 7 1811. Judge Grass was also wounded at this time and walked on crutches the rest of his life. He also caused the county seat to be at Rockford"- Judge Daniel Grass md Jane Smeathers, older sister to Betsy Smeathers md John Berry. Clarissa SPENCER Sarah W. 3. Hi List, My grandmother Susie Carter McKigney (born KY) married Albert Chauncy Gale (born in ILL) in 4-1932 Chicago. I've found a picture of a little girl stating her name is Loretta Ellen Gale, born March 15th, 1937. I was wondering if this girl is a lost relative that Grandmother never mentioned. I can't find her in Ill or Ky. I know that in 1937 Grandmother was still in Ky living in Frankfort and married to Albert. Thanks Marie --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. 1. Sherman WEATHERLY Early 1900's
    2. Vince Summers
    3. I a writing 3 email lists, as this is relevant here... First, KENTUCKY-L: Thanks so much for your very kind listers and assistance in helping me find the census information I needed so much. Second, I post to both KYOLDHAM-L and to KYJEFFER-L because of Sherman WEATHERLY... Sherman WEATHERLY was in Jefferson County, Kentucky in 1900, living in a boarding house, but not married. In 1910, he is found in Oldham County, married, to a Cora J. or Cory J. or Corey J. Unknown. In 1910, the parents may have been with them. Their name was JAROSY or something like that - I can't make the name out! The image I have is too small, though I think that will be rectified soon. If you are familiar with this Sherman WEATHERLY, and his wife, or any of the immediate family (he died 1947), please contact me. Thank you! Vince Summers

    1. Any Census Persons for KY?
    2. Vince Summers
    3. Hi, I seek only one surname in Kentucky, and census would really be great to obtain on it. I joined the KY-CENSUS-L Rootsweb list, but there seems to be no posting there. I did join the Jefferson County list, also, but again, there seems to be no census activity. Now I was really pleased at the death certificate opportunities in Kentucky! Fantastic. I have quickly jumped on the bandwagon of enthusiasm in seeking lookups that I could pay for (I have very limited funds to put it mildly), since a volunteer only asked a buck apiece. This is unheard of in other areas... But I am a bit disappointed in the matter of census. Does anyone on this list know of anyone that has CDs for KY that would be willing to do a lookup for any of these years? 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930. Thanks, Vince Summers

    1. Gen Mothers Day Poem
    2. sarah rose
    3. This genealogy poem is my gift to everyone for Mother's Day. I think many of you will be able to relate to it. (My poetry has been published in 47 US States, and several other countries. ) My Poetry Website: http://users.rosenet.net/poetryandroses/ (This remains one of my favorite poems) MY ANCESTOR GRAND MOTHER I search for you yet do not even know your name I press on praying my efforts will prove fruitful the records do not list you or the other women who have lived and loved and laughed, gave birth, and died, the records perpetrate the myth that you were never here but I stand whole and bare my soul and vow to find you as I live I search for you in old records, in churches, at the Embassy, in small dimly lit rooms in the back of obscure libraries and archives and pour over barely readable handwritten ledgers with magnifying glass and flashlight I live on mainly toast these days there isn't time for meals or much sleep feeling as I always do, on the very brink of discovery Perhaps THIS will be the day I find the one seemingly insignificant clue, which will lead me to you although I did not find you listed in the Census Records I am not deterred, you may turn up yet, on an Immigration or Naturalization list somewhere perhaps, or maybe tucked away inside some bank of vital statistics, long forgotten like so many others, your name having become lost over the long years Your name could be lying even now amidst the millions of documents stored and locked away safeguarded in the bowels of a giant warehouse all stopped up from apathetic crowds who have long ceased their visits your precious name, lying just inside a myriad of records packed in tight, packed in to stay never guessing I would come @Sarah Elizabeth Rose srose@rosenet.net
