    1. Surnames & Forenames
    2. First Families
    3. Hello Kentucky Researchers: For those of you who have a deep interest in how, when and where your Surnames were formed I would like to direct you to 5 new pages we have recently added to our web site. Many researchers have for years believed that all ancestors with the same Surname were at some point related. That is simply not true. When you get back to proving your pre 1500s ancestors you will discover that there are in fact many Surnames that have passed through many families that have no relationship whatsoever. The 5 pages mentioned also contain information on many Forenames and their creation and some of these pages are large so relax and take your time. THE ORIGIN OF THE SURNAME PART 1 THE ORIGIN OF THE SURNAME PART 2 THE ORIGIN OF THE FORENAME FORENAMES OF WOMEN AND THEIR SIGNIFICANCE FORENAMES OF MEN AND THEIR SIGNIFICANCE .......................................................................... There is much information here that should be of interest to all. Go to our web site at: http://www.linkline.com/personal/xymox/ Once there enter the link titled "ORIGIN OF SURNAMES & FORENAMES" this will take you to the index for the 5 pages. For those of you who are AOL members you may have trouble connecting to many pages that may come up with a message such as "Page Does Not Exist" and you can cure that by using your browser feature of Copy and Paste the URL to your browser and then enter from there. All pages contained within our web pages are free for viewing and study by all interested researchers. The very best to you all. Enjoy. Harold Oliver Director America's First Families

    1. New Family History Web Site
    2. Hi Everyone! This is to announce my new Estes-Eastes Heritage web site that contain 6763 people divided into 1217 surnames. www.estes-eastes.com These pages represent the combined efforts of many people who have conscientiously recorded their family lines over the years. The purpose of this site is to consolidate these records into one place so that anyone may use them as a foundation for further personal research and expansion.. We begin with Nicholas Ewstas who was born in 1495 in Kent, England the oldest known person in our Estes/Eastes/etc line. The pages that follow are historic records of some his descendants. As we pass down through the generations we come to our progenitor, Abraham Estes, who migrated from England into the Colony of Virginia and was the father of 13 children. One of these was John Estes, Sr. father of Elisha Estes who migrated from Virginia to South Carolina then to Kentucky and Tennessee where he died in 1818. At the present, these records follow the descendants of Elisha as they move through Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana and beyond. This is just a beginning and that more records will be added in the future to include other descending lines from Abraham. Best Regards Roy Eastes USAF Retired See the "The Estes-Eastes Hertage pages @ www.estes-eastes.com ************************** If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything! - Mark Twain ********************** Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will show thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee." 1. CASSELL, BENJAMIN OR HENRY 1830
    2. Alfred Cassell
    3. hI....I am re-subscribing to this list after an absence of several years, and I am astonished at how few messages are on it now...Last time I was here it was very very busy...Well things change I guess. I am searching for BENJAMIN OR HENRY CASSELL. Henry was b in Maryland in 1780, BENJAMIN was b in Virginia in the 1790's or so...They moved to Lexington Ky, and BENJAMIN had a daughter named DEBORAH CASSELL. In the early 1830's, both BENJAMIN and HENRY moved with their families by oxcart to Illinois, Morgan County, the town of Jacksonville where they settled and raised thier families. Ive been looking for their parents, siblings or other information now for over 10 years and any info that you might have would be very valuable to me..I hope some of this will ring a bell into your own families...Alfred H. CASSELL

Author of a history (chronology) of the Y-12 Plant (AMSE Discovery Shop), and working on a history of the K-25 Plant. Speaking on Subject: "Oak Ridge’s Role in the Manhattan Project and Why It Succeeded!" Our Second Speaker is Alex Gabbard, Speaking on Subject: "Blood of the Roses" Freedom Book of the Month recipient. This subject will cover traveling in Germany while tracking genealogical roots and discovery of the tragic story of Hans and Sophie Scholl. Alex Gabbard is a 57 year old southern author and photographer living near Knoxville, TN. He is originally from Berea, KY where his early life rotated between this small college town with his father and a tobacco farm in the mountains of North Carolina with his mother, a career teacher. He learned about small town life and labor on the farm, a combination that fired his curiosity to learn and his interest in writing. His mother's artistic talents helped mold his appreciation for the arts while the realism of father's economic failure and early death shaped his future. Alex studied engineering and became a special weapons expert during the Viet Nam era, then returned to college afterwards. Nine more years of education and experience refined his professional interests. He was not arts bound. Instead, he became an atomic physicist at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory where he works today. Ultimately his love of cameras and computers, traveling and writing brought Alex prominence among automotive writers for his skill at capturing fast cars on film and in print. Today, with hundreds of magazine features and fourteen books to his credit, two having received "Book of the Year" honors and Moto Awards granted by the International Automotive Journalism Assn., Alex keeps on writing and has set his goal to become a novelist as well as historian. His recently released Blood of the Roses received high international acclaim while being chosen as a "Freedom Book of the Month" selection awarded by the Freedom Network. Along the way, he received the International Automotive Media Association’s Silver Metal for automotive travel, the History Channel Medal, and the International Society of Poets, Poet of Merit Award. Alex's introduction to mass market publications came through his automotive books. His Return to Thunder Road, a history of moonshining in the Appalachians, has become a southern favorite. This non-fiction work recounts the moonshining era through the voices of those who lived it, an oral history, while also retracing the east Tennessee origins of Robert Mitchum’s movie, "Thunder Road", that debuted in Knoxville in 1958. With more auto books and novels in the works, along with a movie script that received Honorable Mention in competition, Alex manages somehow to keep up with the market, his own mail-order business related to his books, and a full time job. Additional accolades came his way when selected as an "Amazing Author", an Internet site featuring his work at jollyroger.com. 2. First Families
    3. Hello Everyone: As most of you are aware the question of genealogical frauds and hoaxes must be of concern to genealogists and researchers since so much information out there is very questionable. We have several pages on our web sites that will be of great help to you in understanding what the problems are. We have updated one of the pages in our Fraudulent Lineages area. The page in question is titled; BEWARE OF THE SOURCE HOAX Many of you are quite aware of some of some of the ways frauds and hoaxes are committed and you may need to review your lines to see if possibly they may contain some of the situations we cover. The URL for this page is; http://www.linkline.com/personal/xymox/fraud/hoax.htm For those of you who are AOL members you may have trouble connecting to many pages that may come up with a message such as "Page Does Not Exist" and you can cure that by using your browser feature of Copy and Paste the URL to your browser and then enter from there. There are many other pages listed within this section and all may be viewed freely by everyone. The very best to you and yours. Harold Oliver America's First Families
