    1. [KY] JOHN KIRKLAND
    2. Phyllis Campbell
    3. Does anyone have any informationt about a John Kirkland? My John Kirkland died in Arkansas in 1911 and is buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Center Ridge, Arkansas in Conway County. His headstone dates are 1879-1911 but who knows if they are correct? He was my great-grandfather and he married Martha Ann Williams aka Mattie or Granny Matt. She was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Williams and Ellanda Jane Kissire. Martha Ann Williams and John Kirkland had one son, Elmer John Lee Kirkland who was born in 1903. When Elmer was about 2 years old in 1905, John Kirkland left his son and his wife who had gone blind from cataracts and we do not know where he was until just before he died. When he became sick he came back to his wife so she could take care of him until he died. So we have a man with 6 years of his life unaccounted for and he was young when he left, 26 if the headstone dates are correct, and only 32 when he returned to Center Ridge. My grandmother used to tell me of rumors that he had another family somewhere, possibly Izard County, Arkansas. Does anyone have a John Kirkland that you do not know where or when he died or where he is buried? He was a blacksmith, sold dishes and worked on clocks. I have the only known picture of my John Kirkland and would make a JPG to send to anyone who may think they know him. This is my brick wall and I need all the help I can get with it so even the smallest bit of information may be helpful. I am forwarding this to Tennessee, Kentucky and Missouri lists because John Kirkland may have wandered into those states or he may have been from there and we do not know where he was born. Thank you. Phyllis

    1. [KY] Kentucky genealogist online via the KYVU?
    2. Randolph Hollingsworth
    3. Dear colleagues: I am on leave from Lexington Community College this year to serve as a Special Projects Coordinator for the Kentucky Virtual University <http://www.kyvu.org>. One of my tasks is to build up the non-credit, professional and personal development side of the curriculum offered via the KYVU. In a meeting yesterday, several of my colleagues felt that there would be a big demand for an online genealogist (fee for service). Do you agree? Do you know of anyone who might want to do such a enterprise? Thanks in advance for any pointers you might have for me. My ancestor, Andrew James Hammond and his wife, Mary Louisa Winans, were on the 1880 Bourbon County, KY, census, Page 158, listed as J. Hammond, age 30, blacksmith; wife, Lou, age 20, and two children, Walter, age 3, and John, age 2/12. A. J. Hammond married Mary Louisa Winans in Bourbon County, on July 8, 1876.
