    2. n a message dated 1/10/01 7:13:14 AM Pacific Standard Time, Jbkamadx writes: << Looking for a lost MADDOX and MOORE family history that was complied in the 1960/70's by Anna Pearl Moore of Louisville, Kentucky. Anna was a secretary at the Louisville Male High School in Louisville, KY most of her life. She had a brother Andrew B. Moore she lived with. Both never married or had children. She was active in some historical societies in the area and complied a Maddox and Moore family history. When I was young older aunts and family members in my MADDOX side often wrote her of family events, saying that Anna kept the family history in a book of sorts. Anna died 8 Oct. 1982 at the age of 93. She had no known heirs and this family history she complied could have went anywhere. Anyone who is a member of any historical society around Louisville, KY, etc., would appreciate it if you would look and see if it ended in your library, etc. Thanks. >>

    1. [KY] Zachariah Perry of Kentucky
    2. I am trying to find information on the family of my GGGGrandfather Zachariah Perry. He was born in Kentucky on Sept. 20, 1825, but I do not know what town or county in Kentucky. I know that he moved from Kentucky to Illinois and married Sarah Jane Keedy abt 1847 and they had 5 children. From Marshall Co. Ill. he moved his family to Clarke Co. Iowa between the 1860 & 1870 census. He moved again to Merna Custer Co, Nebraska about 1882 and died there in 1893. I have been trying to break through this brick wall for about 4 years now and would really like to find out who Zachariah's parents and siblings are. If anybody out there can help me or knows someone that might be able to I would really appreciate any help I can get to remove this brick wall. Thankyou Rick Covic

    1. Re: [KY] Introduction and HELP!!!!!!
    2. Cathie
    3. Hi Paula - Thanks for the information. Unfortunately for me, I have checked all the sites you suggested, along with some other possibilities. It's like I have certain information to distinguish my Huston Brown from most others, but not enough (yet) to pinpoint him exactly because I don't have anything "concrete" (so to speak) to say WHERE my Huston was born or the month or the day -- just the YEAR, his enlistment dates and place into and out of the Civil War. I also have WHO he married, when and where, their offsprings names, dates,etc.... It does make sense though that one list member suggested that "Nativity" suggests WHERE the enlistee is born. I did go to a google site that "grampz" (also from this list) suggested and clearly see that the word "Nativity" applies to many different places but seems to be in the same context. There are other relatives (WADDLE family) with lineage in Pulaski County, KY (Huston's wife's mother's side). Is there someone in the Pulaski County area that could do a bit of digging to see if there is something more concrete in records for a birth of HUSTON BROWN b. 1832? Your help would be REALLY REALLY REALLY appreciated. Thanks - Cathie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paula G Vierra" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, December 23, 2000 9:03 AM Subject: Re: [KY] Introduction and HELP!!!!!! > Hi Cathie, > There is a Nazareth,KY near > Bardstown, so. of Louisville. > I checked my FTM Index and there > are alot of Huston Brown entries. > Checked the cd's I have and found: > * Everton cd - Huston Brown,b:1821, > Ohio; father- John,b:1774 PA > * WFT#2- Huston Brown m: Delia > S. 1. [KY] Nelson Barton & Nancy Bishop Barton
    2. Bonnie Mills-Herrera
    3. I have some photo's of the headstones of Nelson Barton and Nancy Bishop Barton. They are buried in the Worley Cemetery west corbin. That is the name that i was told was the name of the cemetery. I dont know if it has another name or a nickname. I am thinking that if i could get in touch with whoever has records for this cemetery, or the funeral home that might have info on it, that i might find some records on who Nelson Barton was and also for Nancy Bishop Barton. He died so young ( 1820-1851) and i cant find Nancy in any records , remarried or anything. (1820-1888) And then she is there in the cemtery with him, maybe she never remarried. I also wonder why he died so young. I have not been able to determine who Nelson bartons parents were or Nancy Bishop Barton's parents either. If anyone can help, please contact me. Regards Bonni

    1. [KY] A GENEALOGIST' S CHRISTMAS.....
    2. 'Twas the night before Christmas When all through the house Not a creature was stirring, not even my spouse. The dining room table with clutter was spread With pedigree charts and with letters which said: "Too bad about the data for which you wrote Sank in a storm on an ill-fated boat." Stacks of old copies of wills and the such Were proof that my work had become much too much. Our children were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of sugarplums danced in their heads. And I at my table was ready to drop >From work on my album with photos to crop. Christmas was here, and of such was my lot That presents and goodies and toys I'd forgot. Had I not been so busy with grandparents' wills, I'd not have forgotten to shop for such thrills. While others had bought gifts that would bring Christmas cheer, I'd spent my time researching those birth dates and years. While I was thus musing about my sad plight, A strange noise on the lawn gave me such a great fright. Away to the window I flew in a flash, Tore open the drapes and I yanked up the sash! When what to my wondering eyes should appear, But an overstuffed sleight and eight small reindeer. Up to the housetop the reindeer they flew, With a sleigh full of toys, and 'ole Santa Claus, too. And then in a twinkle, I heard on the roof The prancing and pawing of thirty-two hoofs. The TV antenna was no match for their horns, And the roof was covered with hoof-prints adorned. As I drew in my head, and bumped it on the sash, Down the cold chimney fell Santa ... KER-RASH! "Dear" Santa had come down the roof in a wreck, And tracked soot on the carpet (I could wring his short neck!). Spotting my face, good old Santa could see I had no Christmas spirit you'd have to agree. He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work And filled all the stockings (I felt like a jerk). Here was Santa, who'd brought us such gladness and joy; When I'd been too busy for even one toy. He spied my research on the table all spread "A genealogist!" He cried! (My face was all red!) "Tonight I've met many like you," Santa grinned, As he pulled from his sack a large book he had penned. I gazed with amazement ... the cover it read "Genealogy Lines for Which You have Plead." "I know what it's like to be a genealogy bug," He said as he gave me a great Santa hug. While the elves make the sleigh full of toys I now carry, "I do some research in the North Pole Library." "A special treat I am thus able to bring, To genealogy folks who can't find a thing. Now off you go to your bed for a rest, I'll clean up the house from this genealogy mess." As I climbed up the stairs full of gladness and glee, I looked back at Santa who'd brought much to me. While settling in bed, I heard Santa's clear whistle To his team, which then rose like the down of a thistle. And I heard him exclaim as he flew out of sight, "Family History is Fun! Merry Christmas! Goodnight!"

    1. [KY] Introduction and HELP!!!!!!
    2. Cathie
    3. Hello Kentuckians! Let me start off by introducing myself ; my name is Cathie, I live in Minnesota (brrrrrrrrrrrrr) with a -40 degree wind chill here), helping my fiance discover HIS roots (so to speak). We need a little assistance in our MAJOR confusion here and hope we've come to the right place. My fiance' (Bob) recently found out, through other relatives, that his great grandfather's name was Huston Brown and that he was born in 1832 (no month or day was given) but noone knows WHERE Huston was born. Prior to his marriage to Nancy Jane Long on November 11, 1866 in Benton County, IA, Huston enlisted into the service (Civil War) on 09/05/1863 "at" Nativity, KY, was Mustered in on 10/03/1963 and Mustered out on 02/28/1866 in Little Rock, AK. This all has us really puzzled as what seems like within a short time, this man was all over the U.S.A. so we aren't sure where he was born. Could someone on this list be so humble as to let us/me know what "Nativity" , KY is. Is it a Military base? Cathie
