To find a county in a state and you only know the town; ROOTSWEB.COM Cover page; scroll down on left hand side to RESEARCH TEMPLATE , Click on United States Counties/States Enter name of town and state, click search. It will give you the name or names of the different counties this town or city is in. You can click on any of them and will take you to the home page for that county. 2.) If you just want to find a county, repeat the process as above, but instead of putting in name of town and state, continue to scroll down on the page and click on the state you need. On the left hand side, scroll down. It will give you a list of the counties in that state. You may click on them to find info needed in that county. It takes you to the home page for that county. Hope this helps someone. Jan, in Indiana ============================== Search over 900 million names at Ancestry.com! http://www.ancestry.com/rd/rwlist1.asp

    1. [KY] 15 Census Spreadsheets Available!
    2. Gary
    3. I have created 15 different electronic spreadsheets to share and to help fellow researchers organize their census data from the U.S., Canada, England, Ireland and Scotland. All of my spreadsheets are free to anyone who wants a copy (or 15!). The U.S. Federal spreadsheet covers 1790-1920 with pages for the 1880-1920 Soundex. The other countries are covered as follows; Canada 1851-1901, England 1841-1891, Ireland 1821-1911 and Scotland 1841-1891. Each spreadsheet faithfully reproduces the format of the original returns, so they are great for printing blank forms as well as recording your data. Recording census data electronically is a great way to permanently organize, preserve, archive and share the census data we accumulate over the years. At http://www.censustools.com you can read about the spreadsheets and see screenshots of each. I also have a FAQ page and my first monthly newsletter that I released just this weekend. And of course you can download a free copy of whichever spreadsheet(s) you need. Gary __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get email at your own domain with Yahoo! James served in the Civil War as a Private (37th Iowa Infantry--does anyone have a book for a lookup on this?). He might have died as a result of the war in the 1860s (or were they divorced?) as he does not appear on the 1870 Davis CO. census with his family (his wife Margaret is listed as MARGARET SHEPPARD). I have no idea where he is buried. There is also a SARAH MOWERY, WILEY MOWERY, and JOSEPH MOWERY in the 1850-60 census of Van Buren CO. IA (Jackson Twp.). Sarah and Joseph were born in Kentucky and Wiley was born in Indiana. Are they connected to James Mowre/Mowry of Davis CO. IA?? Please email me privately. Nancy Helvey Twin Falls, Idaho
