    1. [KY] Obituary of ELLIOTT SPENCER, 1934
    2. Hi all, I have several obits from "The Lexington Herald" newspaper from March of 1934. I not NOT doing lookups but I will post what obits I have here on the list. This obit is from the Sunday, March 4, 1934 issue, section 2, page 11, column 4. Elliott Spncer MAYSVILLE, KY.,-March 3.-Funeral services for Elliott Spencer, 28, who came here from Wolfe county three weeks ago to visit his sister, Mrs. J. W. Manley, at whose home he died, were held at the grave in Maysville cemetery yesterday. There will be more on the way. God bless, Beth familytr@att.net

    1. RE: [KY] Record of Appointment of Postmasters, 1832-September 30, 1971 lookup
    2. Do you think you could narrow that time frame down some? When was he born/died? Wife/children's names maybe? I am not quite sure what type of lookup you are looking for but something more specific than from 1832-1971 would be helpful. RC

    1. [KY] Record of Appointment of Postmasters, 1832-September 30, 1971 lookup
    2. Redbird
    3. I would apprciate a lookup for Ezra Ward Frank or E.W. Frank as postmaster at Franks, Ky. The primary sources for information on post offices and postmasters are National Archives Microfilm Publication M 1131, Record of Appointment of Postmasters, October 1789-1832, and Microfilm Publication M841, Record of Appointment of Postmasters, 1832-September 30, 1971. These records show the names of post offices, the dates of their establishment and discontinuance, name changes, and names and appointment dates of postmasters. Beginning in 1870, the records indicate the names of post offices to which mail was sent from discontinued offices, as well as information on money order post offices and presidential appointments.

    2. Web Champ
    3. To all... I recently found an item on the following webpage that looks pretty interesting: http://www.kinseeker.com/id11.html . It's a "Southeastern States Resource Guide" with links to quite a few general and state-specific genealogical resources. Take a look and see what you think. I also recently posted this to the Washington DC mailing List at WashingtonDC-L@rootsweb.com , so if you read/post to that list, you may not want to email for another copy. I will also be posting this to other mailing lists for the southeast. Thanks!

    2. Becky, Had a bit of time this morning and found this for you - it appears that his name was Edward. Or... at least that is the way he is listed in this census. 1910 - Dist. 1, Fleming Co., Ky - ED #51, pg. 8B - 125/130 - April 26 Snapp, Edward - head - 35 - md1 (13 yrs) - Ky-Ky-Ky - farmer Mattie L. - wife - 26 - md1 (13 yrs) - 5/5 - Ky-Ky-Ky Sarah A. - daug - 11 - Ky Anna B. - daug - 8 - Ky Willie J. - son - 6 - Ky Bertie B. - son - 2 - Ky Minnie L. - daug - 5/12 - Ky On the same page but listed with family 131/136 is: Sapp, Wm - father - 77 - wd - Ky-Ky-Ky listed with the L. F. Humphris & Hettie M. family. Wondered if there was a chance that they just spelled his name wrong and... in District 4 ED #56, pg. 2A - 23/23 - April 18 there is this one: Snapp, Jas H. Jr. - 24 - md1 (3 yrs) - Ky-Ky-Ky - Laborer Farm Lily F. - wife - 17 - md1 (3 yrs) - 1/1 - Ky-Ky-Ky Minnie M. - daughter - 1 - Ky Those are the only Snapp listings for 1910 in Fleming Co. Hope this helps a bit. 3. Find a census for Fleming Co. 1910 and work backwards. As they get younger, look for others with the same last name who are older and possibly the parents. Some libraries will do an interlibrary loan for microfilm census. If not, call your nearest LDS (Morman) church and ask where their nearest family research center is; you can order microfilm from them for your use for under $5.00. 3. As Memorial Day approaches, I was reminded again that this is the time where family members wish they were nearby to place flowers on graves, but can't because of distance, health, or whatever. When you shop for those memorial flowers and wreaths for your own loved ones, won't you join me in picking up a couple of $1 bunches of flowers to place on those lonely graves where no flowers are placed? Do it for the family members who may not be close enough or healthy enough to do it.. do it for those who have long since gone but used to care for the graves. Do it, just because you're a family historian, and care about these who have passed before us. Do it, because it just feels good! It is a special feeling know that these who would have been without, can now show that someone cared! Lanita Sconce Miller Any family tree produces some lemons, some nuts and a few bad apples.
