    1. [KY] I am asking if there are any STATE census, not U.S. FEDERAL census, for Kentucky? What years?
    2. Michael J. Smith
    3. Hi List, I am asking if there are any STATE census, not U.S. FEDERAL census, for Kentucky? What years? State censuses rank with federal censuses as a major genealogical resource, but, because they were taken randomly, remain a much under-utilized resource in American genealogy. State censuses not only stand as substitutes for some of the missing 1790, 1800, 1810, and 1890 censuses (as well as many county and statewide enumerations lost or destroyed between 1790 and 1890) but also as valuable population enumerations in their own right. Many state censuses, for example, asked different questions than the federal census, so they record information that cannot be found elsewhere in federal schedules. Thanks, Michael J. SMITH msmith4@gt.rr.com

    1. [KY] Will do Lookups
    2. Dear list, I should finish with the look ups I'm working on today and will be able to do more if anyone still needs them. I have the following 1850 Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, Alabama, Louisianna and Mississippi 1880 United States Census and Index (I know this is on line at the LDS site) Some people don't have time to stay on long enough to find what they are looking for so I'm happy to do it. 1910 Kentucky Mira Code 1860 Bullitt, Nelson and Jefferson County Census 1870 Kentucky Census Index only head of household, women over 70 and anyone in a household with different surname. I have other resources on cd and books, alot of Kentucky info always happy to try and help others. Below is my web site where you can find a complete list of what I have. Look forward to hearing from you all. 1. [KY] FW: [ARCHIVES] SLC's Family History Library Hours Changed
    2. Sherri Hall
    3. Forwarded FYI. -----Original Message----- From: W. David Samuelsen [mailto:dsam@sampubco.com] Sent: Monday, June 02, 2003 8:55 PM To: ARCHIVES-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [ARCHIVES] SLC's Family History Library Hours Changed Official as of today.... The hours for Family History Library in Salt Lake City had been changed effective JULY FIRST. Monday: 8 am to 5 pm Tuesday-Saturday: 8 am to 9 pm Personally I knew about the change over a week ago but I was asked not to announce until the Library has the chance to post the announcement themselves. Notice is posted on entrance doors to Library as well as by the elevators. The reason given: Low patron use 7:30 am to 8 am and after 9 pm as well as energy costs, particularly electricity usage in proporation to low patron usage during those times. Lately, from my personal observations, there appears to be less use of the Library in last 3 months. The last time the Library was crowded was way back in February. Very unusual NOT to have crowds about every 2 weeks after several years of crowds. Permission is granted to forward to many appropriate lists including but not limited to: county lists, society lists and surname lists. Not restricted to Rootsweb lists. W. David Samuelsen, long-time patron of Family History Library

    1. [KY] Arnett
    2. Cecelia
    3. I am searching for information on the family of my great-grandfather, James E. Arnett who was born in Kentucky in 1831. His father was from South Carolina, his mother from Kentucky. However, I have no idea who they were, where they lived, or where he was born. James E. attended medical school in Louisville, then followed some horse traders into Tennessee. He liked it there and stayed. I have information as to his wives and children, but I don't know where he or his third wife, Rhoda C. Melton Hendrix, are buried. He died Dec. 31, 1929. After his death, Rhoda took their children (one of them, my grandmother) to Texas. In Navarro county, my grandmother married James D. Miles. I know where my grandparents are buried in Navarro county, along with his parents, his first wife and children. There are some Arnetts buried there, but I don't recognize any of the names from the information I have. I would appreciate any information and help. Cecelia in Texas
