Hi all, Anyone who is researching Williams - Sturges - Farmer: I recently purchased a first edition _History of Lawrence, Orange and Washington Co.'s Indiana_ and inside I found a couple things. One is a letter to Mrs. Beddow from J. Braddock Sturges of Boston, Mass. dated December 29, 1940. In it he is asking for help from Mrs. Beddow in tracing his family tree. There isn't alot of information in the letter, but it is interesting. His grandmother Sturges had taken him and his siblings to Indiana when he was young to visit family. His grandmothers father was Elkanah Williams, Elkanah's wife was a Farmer. He also says that his grandmother "is so old now that she has trouble in remembering..." Also in this book I found an old clipping of the obituary for Elkanah Williams penciled in is the date Oct. 8, 1888 This obit doesn't mention any survivors, only the bearers, who were other Dr's in the area. I will be posting this on my site this evening. If anyone is descended from Elkanah please let me know. I'll mail these things to you. I have no use for them and I'm afraid they would only get misplaced if I keep them. Thanks, Dee Listowner for KENTUCKIANA-L Kentuckiana Genealogy http://www.aye.net/~dee1234/
