Hi everyone! I hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day weekend! First of all...welcome to the 10 people who just subscribed today! Please feel free to send us a note telling us who you're researching! Also, this list is only part of Kentuckiana Genealogy Website located at: http://www.aye.net/~dee1234 Here are the updates I've made today: **************************************************************************** ********************** I have uploaded a new section. "Pioneers of Kentuckiana" So far I have Lawrence Co. uploaded. I'm working from the book _History of Lawrence, Orange and Washington Co.'s Indiana_ ©1884 I'm still working on it, but I wanted to go ahead and upload it to get an update out. I also want you all to see the format I'm using, and what I'm adding for each individual. If you click on their name (if it's a link) you'll get more information on that person. If any of you have information on a Kentuckiana Pioneer please send it to me. I'm working on those who were here 1825 and earlier. There are over 200 people so far in the Lawrence Co. section, with more coming. **************************************************************************** ************************ I have also updated the query section. There were about 20 queries added. **************************************************************************** ************************ In the births section, I have updated the following counties: Crawford, Dubois, Hardin **************************************************************************** ************************ In the marriage section I have updated the following counties: Lawrence **************************************************************************** ************************ The Resources section has been updated. If you have addresses and/or phone numbers for local libraries, Genealogical/Historical societies, etc...please send them to me and I'll post them there. **************************************************************************** ************************ I'm still looking up information on Famous People from Kentuckiana. Remember, send those to me if you know of any. Some of the ones I have so far are: Abraham Lincoln, The Reno Gang, Sherman Minton, James Best, Benjamin Harrison, Ned Beatty, Ken Kercheval, Tom Cruise, Edwin P.Hubble, Fuzzy Zoeller, Camille Wright, George Rogers Clark, William Clark, Zachary Taylor, Gov. I have some biographical information on each of these people, but I can always use more info if you have it. **************************************************************************** ************************ I want to share something else with everyone. I recently found out from a listmember that we were reviewed by Cyndi Howells in her column in Heritage Quest Magazine! The following is the review: - ------------------------------ Heritage Quest, May/June 1998, Issue Number 75, pp. 36-38 Untangling the web: Lineage Links by Cyndi Howells In the process of creating and maintaining my own web site, Cyndi's List of Genealogy Sites on the Internet, <http://www.cyndislist.com/>http://www.CyndisList.com, I have had the opportunity to visit thousands of web sites related to genealogical research. In doing so, I have been able to determine what features and types of content make up a good web site. First and foremost, a good genealogy web site should contain information that will aid the online researcher in discovering information about their own family lines. This can be anything from actual source material or content to advice or helpful articles. The purpose of the web site should be clearly stated on the main home page and the site should be easy to navigate throughout. As these sites are meant for research, it isn't necessary for them to be flashy, decorative or contain a lot of graphics although this may add to the overall experience for someone who visits a site. The following are a few examples of terrific web sites that are currently available to aid you in your online genealogical search. Kentuckiana Genealogy <http://www.aye.net/-dee1234>http://www.aye.net/-dee1234/ Covering the Indiana counties of: Clark, Crawford, Dubois, Floyd, Harrison, Perry, Scott and Washington; and Kentucky counties of Breckinridge, Jefferson, Hardin and Meade. Dee Floyd-Pavey works tirelessly on this site, adding information to it regularly. Included on the site are censuses, GEDCOM databases, links, genealogy help files, queries, photos, stories, and details for a Kentuckiana mailing list and a Kentuckiana web ring. [an image of home page is included on p. 38] -------------------------------------- I feel very honored to have been included, and the kind words by Cyndi really made my day! :-) *grinning from ear to ear* **************************************************************************** ************************** I hope to update a little more today. may not get the chance, though...... Thanks everyone, Dee Kentuckiana Genealogy http://www.aye.net/~dee1234/
