I don't have any information for you on the Ray family as such; however, I needed to check something out on the DATABASE TO INDIANA MARRIAGES TO 1850 this morning and checked for you on the marriage of James Ray to Jane Newkirk. They were married in Crawford County, IN, on August 16, 1838. That may help in some way to get started...there seemed to be a lot of Rays in Indiana getting married during the years on the database; however, Crawford County wasn't popular. Do you know where he was in 1840? Perhaps the census can help. Good Luck. Marilyn
