To subscribe to Census-Chat send an email message to CENSUS-CHAT-L-request@rootsweb.com (this address is for mail mode, you get each posting as they are posted) in the body of the message (here in this area that you are reading in or would write in), put only the word SUBSCRIBE. Turn OFF ALL signature files, do not type your name or anything. If you have even a period ( . ) in there besides the word Subscribe, it will spit it back at you. You can leave the subject blank, or put the word Subscribe up there. If you prefer Digest mode (several messages posted into on big message), then send an email to CENSUS-CHAT-D-request@rootsweb.com and in the message area, put only the word Subscribe. Once you are subscribed (you will get a welcome message), if you want to post a question or message to EVERYONE on the list, send an email to CENSUS-CHAT-L@rootsweb.com Now what exactly is Census-Chat? A mailing list, sponsored by the Census Project, for anyone who wants to discuss the Census, provide tips for locating Census information, and request Census lookups, general Chit Chat, odd names found, odd mistakes found, a success story of many long hours spent searching the census for an ancestor, anything pertaining to the Census.
