    2. Good morning Carol, It is great to hear from McCoys with roots in this area. In your last post you wrote: <Greetings! Am doing McCoy research, primarily in Iowa at this time, but always interested in the surname. have been working on the NICKELSON line and haven't gotten as deep into the MC COY line yet. Family reunion in Morland Kansas Aug 9th. Briefly:> I am searching for anything about ROBERT MCCOY who married Corinna Pearman in Meade Co KY in 1857. They moved to Arkansas County AR before 1860 along with some of the Pearmans. Our grandmother told us that Robert owned three boats. He operated these boats on the Ohio, Mississippi, and Arkansas rivers. During the Civil War these boats were used by the Confederates. She said he was killed by carpetbaggers after the war when he was showing them a shortcut to the river. (Arkansas River). Our grandmother never trusted "yankees" after that. I can find nothing to back up this story but grandmother was well read and intelligent. She was also a devout christian and I have no reason to discount this. I just wish that I could prove the story. I would also love to find Roberts parents and siblings. Robert and Corinna had three children: Elizabeth--Kate--Curtis. I hope to solve this mystery. (need help) Thanks for your prompt reply. Best wishes, Sue Perry Searching for MCCOY-PEARMAN-FIELD
