Message-ID: <19980728.130437.9822.0.kleo13@juno.com> X-Mailer: Juno 1.49 X-Juno-Line-Breaks: 29 From: kleo13@juno.com (Kristina D Sar) Hi. My name is Kristina Sar, and I am trying to do my geneology. I see that you do the web page for Daviess county, and I have run across a problem that I am hoping you may have a suggestion for. My grandmother and great grandfather were both born in Daviess Co., and I am trying to get their birth certificates. After waiting to get the applications, I filled them out, enclosed my money order, and sent them off to the registrar. She promptly sent them back, writing that she could NOT send the certificates because I had not listed the mothers' maiden names. My problem is that I do not know their maiden names. I am not even positive of their first names. Both my grandmother and my great grandfather were riased by step mothers, and the census records leave a question as to which woman was the mother. The registrar suggested that I get the death records, saying that they are ALWAYS more informative, but I already have my grandmother's death record, and it lists neither of her parents. Of seven children that she had, none of them know who her mother is. I understand that the registrar may be concerned about people getting hold of birth certificates for fraudulent purposes, but I am talking about people born around and before the turn of the century- I'm not sure what damage someone could do with their certificates. Furthermore, I included a short note explaining my relation to these people, since the last names are different. Can you think of ANY way in which I can convince her to let me have the birth certificates, or even let me know if she has them for sure (she will tell me NOTHING). I know it's completely different, but other counties in Indiana have let me buy them without the mother's maiden name- I know of no other way to find out the mother's maiden name. I apologize for going on so long about this- I just figured with keeping up the Daviess Co. web page, you of all people may have some suggestions to help me out. If you have any ideas or know anything that may help, I would GREATLY appreciate it! My e-mail is kleo13@juno.com. Thank you so very much!- Kristi _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
