Dear List Members: http://iigs.rootsweb.com/immships/ We are a group of volunteers dedicated to making the search for our ancestors easier. We grew out of a need to find ships’ passenger lists right here, on- line. Many people who are searching do not have the strength of body to leave their homes and find this information. Many do not have the eyesight to search microfilms. Many with small children need to be at home with them while others do the leg work and some of us, to be sure, just want to do it the easy way. We began our work on September 16, 1998--to search, copy, decipher and type passenger lists that were not to be found anywhere on the internet. Within a week we had fifty volunteers and today we have nearly one hundred, hoping others will join us. Within a very short time we will have over 60 passenger manifests posted here on our new website, generously given to us by Rootsweb. That represents more than 5,000 passengers and more will be added on a weekly basis. Take a look at our website. You may find an ancestor now or keep on checking back as you may find one later.
