Precinct and township histories are detailed. Assessors, treasurers, recorders -- all this inforamtion is listed in extraordinary detail. Published in 1882 when the area was just burgeoning into the metropolitan vastness which now exists, the history includes the names of thousands of people who contributed to the growth of the then small towns in Clark and Floyd Counties, Indiana, and the city of Louisville in Jefferson County, Kentucky. Histories of churches, schools, businesses, the medical profession, attorneys are detailed here. Manufacturing, industry, railroads, river traffic, and many other facets of life in the 1880s are all recorded here. Fascinating stories of life in the period abound.
