    1. [KENTUCKIANA-L] Battle of Floyd's Defeat
    2. Ruth, I too am a Demarest/Demaree descendant and I have the following notes in my genealogy file: "According to the Demarest Family Genealogy second edition 1964 page V26 Rachel, daughter of Samuel and Lea, was baptised Apr 1, 1744 Hampton, Bucks County, PA This family must have moved around a lot as brother John was born in Berkley County Va, 1745 and two sisters later in NYC." " Rachel, daughter of Joost and Maria Meyer, was baptised Jan 9 1743 Schraalenburgh. Married NYC Nov 20 (17) 1762 Gerardus Ryker (Ryckman) and second John Van Cleave after the death of her first husband (Sep 15, 1781). Gerardus was killed in Bullskin, KY, in Boone's and Tylers defeat by the Indians. etc. John Van Cleave was the son of Aaaron and Rachel Schenck. Eight children Ryker and two children Van Cleave." I hope this helps. Ardath Blue Edna, TX RF>Read the account of Floyd's Defeat with interest.
