I am looking for any info on a Jonas Scoggin/Scroggin/Schogin, etc. It is not for myself, but for someone. She is not on the internet so I just thought I would do her a favor. Jonas Scoggin ismentioned in his parent's estate papers in York Co., PA and in the 1770's as having left for parts unknown. we do not know his exact age, his younger brother was b 1757 or 58 and he may have been quite a bit older. there are records of a Jonas Scoggin in the militia in Westmoreland co., PA during the Rev. War. The book, conquest of the country NW of the R. Ohio 1778-1783, by English, covers land in Clark's Grant opposite Lou KY, but in IN it shows Thomas Hooper, a private, was assigned land. He sold it to Jonas Scoggin. How can she track down a land record or anything on Jonas Scoggin? Her name is Miss Margaret B. Scoggins Any help welcome. Sue Carpenter
