Hi everyone I just wanted to take a minute to remind everyone to hug your child today!! It only takes a minute to lose them. On Sunday afternoon, just before dinner, my three children were playing in the living room...getting a little too wild...and I told them to settle down...not even 30 seconds later I heard a big crash and my oldest son screaming. I ran into the living room to find my oldest son (10 yrs old) holding his head, and my daughter (the youngest, 3 yrs old) crawling on the floor....she wasn't breathing, and wouldn't respond to my voice.... She appeared as though the wind had been knocked out of her so I blew into her face...she took a deep breath and screamed. She was incoherent, and not breathing very well. I grabbed my phone and dialed 911. They took both Josh and Laikyn to the hosital in the ambulance...Josh ended up having stitches in his head, but no major injuries and was released that night. Laikyn, on the other hand, is one lucky little girl. The crash I had heard was a 100 lb wood mantle that hung above our fireplace. This 100 lb block of wood landed on her chest and pinned her between it and the brick hearth. After countless x-rays, catscans, and blood tests...they determined that there were no broken bones or internal injuries. She was released from the hospital tonight at 8pm. It seems the wood came at her at an angle and hit the tip of her nose, her mouth, her chin and then her chest. The Dr. said that had it came at her 1/2 inch either way she wouldn't be in very good shape. (Josh wasn't hit by this, we are guessing it was a picture frame that hit his head) Well...she's bruised, sore, upset...even a little whiny. (but whiny is good when you consider the alternative) And she will be one spoiled rotten little girl for a long time to come...but she's here and doing good. Accidents happen...and they can happen so fast. Enjoy your kids now and don't take them for granted...I thank the Lord I didn't have to add another date on our family tree!! Needless to say, I'll be off-line and totally unavailable for a while...atleast until she is up and getting into things like normal! ;-) If any of you need to get in touch with me, some of you have my number and, if you do, feel free to call, if not...just put my name in the subject line of an e-mail and I'll see it right away. I'll still need to download my e-mail everyday so it doesn't back up. Thanks all! Dee Kentuckiana Genealogy http://www.floyd-pavey.com/kentuckiana/ ***********NOTICE NEW URL*************
