    1. [KENTUCKIANA-L] Migration IN to AR 1883/1884
    2. In 1883/1884 a group of related families left Warrick Co. IN and settled in Yell Co. AR. At least one of the primary families was that of Joseph Young, immigrant from England, and his wife, Eleanor McDonald Wingate Young. Another primary family was that of John and Mary Dean, of England and Ireland. Most of their children were married and had young families, other children were born in AR. Several of the children of these two families had intermarried. The children and their spouses made up the travelers of this migration. The surnames found in this group were as follows: YOUNG, DEAN, CAMPBELL, WINGATE and HOWSLEY. There may have been others of which I am unaware. These families are found living close to one another on the 1900 Yell County, AR. Census in the Chickalah Township. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has further knowledge of these migrants or other groups who may have followed the same paths. What type travel was involved? Did they raft, take boats, wagon trains? How would they get there? Why did so many leave IN? Was Yell Co. the original final destination? Thanks for any information you may be able to share.
