have recently started research for my Stanton/Staunton line. My grtgrtgrandfather was John Stanton b. abt. 1852 in IN, His 2nd marriage was to Elizabeth Hardin in 1883 Knox County IN. One of their children was my grtgrandmother Nannie Mae Stanton. I beleive John Stanton's father was a Moses Stanton b. abt. 1809 in KY. John Stantons mother was Lydia ??? b. in KY or IN. Moses Stanton's parents may have been Thomas and Polly Stanton as they were usually close neighboors on the census records & their ages add up. I have traced my Stanton's on census records. It looks like they came to IN from KY sometime before 1844. Possible KY counties were Casey, Pulaski, and Wayne. I would love to hear anything about these Stantons. On a few census records it was spelled as Staunton. Thank you Christine
